Idaho BS thread in the PNW

I run my 33x12.50s at 10 PSI for wheeling and drop down to about 15 PSI for logging roads. Over the weekend I dropped them to 8 for some snow I was in. I have never had a problem with beads. I actually had to drive home on the highway about 150 miles at that pressure, the local gas station was not open yet on my way home so I just kept driving. I actually like the ride and feel of my tires at highway speeds with low pressure. And yes Mike I did check my gauge with two others I have and it reads about 6PSI higher so I adjusted accordingly.

 

Does that mean my cheapo vatozone gauge is sort of correct? It always read about 5 or 6 higher than your ARB gauge.

 

I was referring to your comment about how wide your track is. Not how narrow your tires are.

 

I guess so. that gauge I keep in the truck is not an ARB gauge. Its just a cheapo from Schucks or some place. I wont own anything if its made by ARB.

uuhh ya, you cant even tell its lowered. They needed a dumped truck to even it out. Lowered truck in the rotation? How about a truck with 4x4 suspension thats been lowered 2", good enough....

Yup...I missed em.

Curb weight is about 4130 so I start at about 1000lbs more than Lisa's rig. And I have added at least 700 or so to that I would guess.

As for staying on top of the snow...there are some real technique to it. Tire width does make a difference as does the type of snow but I have been driving along, jumped out of my rig and sank chest deep in snow I did not know was that deep under me. There are times none of us go well and times when the snow is just right and we run over it like we are on tracks. But learning how to do that is a important if you run around these hills in winter. It has saved my bacon a few times now.

 

So you are almost as heavy as I am then so I may not be so bad off.

Yea i wheel at 12psi usually if im just wheeling. Its a great median i think. I have never gone lower then 10..haven't had to yet. Don't get deep enough snow here
