I'm in the same boat. My mom and dad live in Stamford. Both don't have power but are both OK. No flooding but my dad just was able to leave. Trees down everywhere.
At least they are ok. My mom is supposed to be flying here tomorrow, hopefully her flight leaves!

My 12 hours without power and one tree down over my plow truck seems like a hangnail compared to the devastation I'm seeing. I pray for all involved that they are safe....

Kinda sick of having no power, but i shouldn't be complaining because my house is still here. Actually not that bad here, last year between irene and the october snow storm i had no power for 17 days, we got lucky with this one. Hope all you NY and NJ guys are doing alright

glad to hear they are ok. That is what matters most. everything can be replaced. Lives cannot.
Hang in there man. Glad the only thing you lost was the plow truck.

I am actually kind of surprised at how low the death count is after everything. I was expecting way more.

Stamford took a beating. I have power but most around me still don't. The power crews have been doing real well. Those guys are really busting their ass. Easton Fire department Lost a fireman during the storm right before EOC called all services back to quarters. It wasn't a good day, but jersey and NYC took the brunt of it. Hope everyone out there is OK.

I hear you man I got lucky too only lost power for 3 days and have minimal damage. I am 2 miles from a barrier island in NJ (Long Beach island) and the island is basically cut in half and there is only one bridge on and off the island.

Quick update from NYC. They started limited subway service over night and have been running buses for free. The traffic is ridiculous, gridlocked streets especially after 4pm. People at work said it's been taking 2 hours to get to Queens. Should take 15 - 20 minutes in traffic. I won't go below 23rd. It's been pitch black there at night. My friends that live down there said looting is starting at night. Most people walk north of midtown to eat/spend time bc there are very limited options down there.
Having said that, every day gets better. My family on long island got power back but they said the amount of trees down and damage is devestating. The utility crews all over the tri-state area have been busting their asses and I give them all a lot of credit.
My heart breaks for Breezy Point (where my parents met and spent their summers). That community was devestated by fire. But the human spirit endures and people will rebuild. Hopefully people will come together to help each other, b/c I'm sure this storm has left many people in dier circumstances. A lot of Hollywood peeps make their homes here, hopefully they are willing to put their money where their mouths are after helping out when other areas are devestated, imo.

Local firehouse subs is making a crap load of box lunches and shipping them out in uhauls to utility workers. They said they are going as far as 5 hours away to places in NY and NJ. What you see in the picture is probably half of what they had made up.
