:notsure:Is it worth locking the rear or a PreRunner? Would it add any capability?

I know it's been done, but cant recall who did it. It would make getting out of trouble easier, IMO.

ARB all the way! i believe its the same locker for the 5 and 6 lug that share the 8.4" diff.

my truck came with the factory e-locker and its been great! a locked prerunner has taken me more places than i ever thought i would want to go. now i just need to convert to 4WD so i can get to the 3 or 4 places i havent been yet.

Oh I am so doing this! One question, what year range do I have to work with for the parts? '06 - '13? What vehicles, 4Runner, FJ or just Tacomas?

I see you have a '13. Sell it and buy a 4x4... You cant have taken much depreciation yet. Doing the 4x4 conversion will just screw things up in my opinion.

I would trade it in for a 4x4 if you haven't put a lot of money in it yet. this conversion is not cheap nor easy. It won't crew everything up like stated above but it will void your warranty even though all Toyota parts are used.

If you keep it long enough then this might be an option for you.

Yeah I plan on keeping this one for a while as long as it is good to me. I have plenty of equity in it to trade in but I do stuff like this conversion for fun. I will probable accumulate the parts as they are found and if I get bored I'll put them on once I have them all. The parts list doesn't seem too bad and I can do all the fabrication and install myself. I just want to find out more about the electronics so it will look completely stock, heck I will leave the PreRunner badge on to surprise a few people!

This is why I'm interested in the conversion. Way too much time and money (that I'll never see in re-sale value) into this truck already! I said good by to the warranty a long time ago. I figure in another year or two the parts availability will be a little better too.

Also since your trucks VIN says 2wd you dont have to pay the increase in insurance for 4wd
