    It was a good healthy hike! I'd like to do it again. One thing to clarify.... staying at the cabins \ motel will not get you on the driving trail. It's close enough that you can drive to the trail in 30 minutes (bottom) or 15 min (top). You can hike from the cabins to the falls... then up another hour or so to the parking lot at the top of the driving trail... but the 2 do not meet with a vehicle.

    Generally... we camp at the bottom.... ride to the top... goof off in the parking lot a bit... many depart from there... then we drive back down the trail to the campground again. I suggest if you stay at the cabins... enter the trail at the bottom... then you have the options of either departure route.

    I guess I should add...

    Unless it's 70+ degrees out in January, she will not hike twenty feet. I'm just looking for a warm place to spend the night. The idea of a cabin is more alluring than a motel. But a motel works too. I would expect to have to drive a few minutes from wherever we stay to hit the trail head, so no issue there.

    We'd likely drive down Friday night. Stay in the cabin (or motel). Meet y'all Saturday for a trail ride. Stay the night again Saturday night and roll out Sunday morning. Just chewing on some ideas for now. Still gotta talk her into it. :D
