    That tree isn't going to die any time soon. But it won't have a nice shape ever again. It's a Bradford Pear or similar cultivar. They have hard but brittle wood and have a tendency to have narrow branch crotches resulting in bark inclusion which means a weak tree. Remove it and plant it with a Linden. The honey bees will thank you.
