"If it means something to you, you can't stand still.

    You Understand?!?

You play fast. You play strong. You go out there and dominate the guy you're playing against and MAKE HIS ASS QUIT!"

But didn't Nick Saban say this about playing with SPEED? Isn't that kind of pot calling kettle black? Here he is about complaining about hurry up/speed offenses but he talks about making the other team quit? That is what hurry up offense is.

Heard an interesting rumor the other day and I was wondering what others thought. The rumor was that Texas was going to ask Mack to step down and go after Saban.

The Mack stepping down part I get (Texas fans may disagree but he's gotten every player he's wanted for a long time and he's not getting the job done.)
The Saban part I can't see happening, but some people say Saban would jump at the job. Some people also said ND would join the Bevo10 so....

There's a HUGE difference between playing fast (with speed) and playing quickly (hurried) when people may not be ready to get hit with that speed i.e. a defensive lineman trying to get set and getting a 320 lb freight train rammed up his face solely for the purpose of catching him off guard, possibly causing a serious injury that isn't due to normal gameplay technique.

Speed is a skill. Rushing an offense is a dangerous strategy that, on occasion, is employed to make up for the lack of skill speed.

Being in Austin, I've been hearing the rumors of Mack being ousted for years now. Once Muschamp left all hell broke loose and the Saban rumor went ballistic with no real reason or evidence.

I can't see Saban doing it and wasting another 4 years trying to rebuild a program at his age. Hell, last year was his first year with a team made entirely of his players. He's just getting started. Plus, Bama will throw the cash his way.

Saban has said before that he's not going anywhere then bolted, so who knows, BUT...

Saban and his wife have repeatedly said that Alabama is their last stop. I've heard he was offered a good bit of money by the Bucs last year to go back to the NFL and turned it down. (I have no evidence of this... Just heard it.)

Texas can't offer Saban any more money than Alabama can pay him. He's making about $5m/year now. If Texas offered $6m or $7m, Alabama would match.

Who knows... Maybe he thinks he can win a National Title at 3 different schools and would jump at the opportunity, but I think he's good where he is. I just hope we have him for another 4 or 5 years before he retires.

Yeah I agree! The only reason I could think of why Saban would go to Texas would be because he personally would rather live in Austin. I'm not saying its better bit he could personally like it better and move there before retiring.

Speakin' of the Ducks....they were talking about their low BCS rating on the sports network radio this morning. The word is....if they win out the rest of the season, BCS will have them at #2. :poking: Poor K.State & Notre Dame.

I'd love to see Bama vs. Oregon. I like watching Oregon cause of their speed and Bama cause of their ability to stop it. Would be a fun game. Plus...it's always fun to see what uni Oregon might wear!

That was a key point during the discussion.....the Ducks will have to really hand an ass whoopin' to the Trojans.....a close game will ruin any chance of Oregon leap froggin anyone. ;)

    THIS^^^^

These teams are so opposite that I think it would be a blast watching how they play each other.

My opinion - Oregon would go so fast that the 1st half would be a cluster fuck. After halftime - Alabama would come out and fix the problem and slow shit down. Just a theory and who the fuck knows. Prob ain;t gonna happen anyway.

Oregon, after they beat the Spoiled Children this weekend will pass Notre Dame. We are only .001 behind ND and they play lowly Pitt State. Don't see them being able to stay ahead of us after this week.

I think what Oregon and K-State have to worry about most is the human element. Right now, ND is behind both K-State and Oregon in the Harris and Coaches polls.

Just my opinion, but those Gold Helmets and the (ancient) history/tradition of that school might sway voters if they're undefeated at the end of the year. Seems like voters might be taking a 'wait and see' approach right now, but a 12-0 Notre Dame could sway enough of them vote the Irish #2 and keep K-State and Oregon out.

Brad Edwards knows a LOT more about this than me, and he says ND has the toughest road b/c of SOS and the fact that they won't be playing the last weekend of the season. I still think it could happen.

Bama could beat a few NFL teams. Spurrier says yes they can.

Steve Spurrier may not have been a good fit in the NFL. However, the ol' ball coach says Nick Saban and powerhouse Alabama have what it takes to compete at the highest level.

"Alabama, gosh, they look like they could beat a couple of those NFL teams that I've watched on Sundays," Spurrier said Wednesday on "The Dan Patrick Show." "I think a lot of the oddsmakers out there that usually know what's going on, I'd guess Alabama would be favored by a little bit."
