Well today I walked the finished sliders out to my truck and held them in place.

About as close to installing them as I got so far :cookiemonster:

    No :(

    But my daughter loves them.

I really do like the profile of these sliders and the position in which we mounted them. The guy I met up with to do the work is an amazing welder, avid off roader (builds his own rigs) and great guy.

I tell you the added weight is very noticeable when driving and it makes my worn out suspension feel really spongy.

It's a different kind of weight... if feels like I'm hauling stuff but not in the bed, just directly underneath me. It's a "middle weight" feel if that makes sense.

And yeah, these BAMF sliders are heavier fackers... damn near unraveled a testicle lifting them up.

I'll have to start saving up for new leafs, coils and shocks. :)

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
well they really look great! glad you got them on.
one way to look at it, I would think it would help you out in the snow, with the added weight in the center, giving you a litter more traction on all 4s.

    He did.

Great guy, unbelievable welder. His welds are so clean. I had to wait there while he did it too, so he was showing me a lot of tricks and things to remember as I hopefully get in to it.

Also ran into an issue with one of the sliders and his expertise was much needed. Without it I'd just have a slider on my passenger side only (which goes well with the beginning theme of my build)

That was my first thought. I'll get used to it. I have to remember that I've put almost 160,000 miles on this truck. I know its every nuance and can feel if someone put a nickel in the back of my truck.

So it's gonna feel a lot different at first.

Still a great excuse for a setting the goal of a new suspension

yeah I am sure its going to take some getting use to, but your right about the suspension, (but at least you have a 98!!!!!!) (better options on rear leaf springs)
I wasn't going to say it, but part of my family was in the welding business, (back to the 20's in Florida) working on auto steel really takes a frigging good welder. let no one kid you its difficult and takes the right touch with the heat, and the bead, but they do look good on your truck!

Installed a new head unit today. Waiting on the sound deadening products from Raamaudio to arrive tomorrow to do the door panels, rear wall and rear speaker cubbies, and install my new front speakers.

This is assuming it's not too cold out... don't want to break every single clip and/or plastic trim.

For you young guys, what I'm pointing to in the second picture is called a cassette player. "Ca" - "sette" - "play" "yer"

Us finely aged folks used to jam out to these back in the day:

So I'm in the process of sound deadening my truck as best I can for $150 + my time.

While I was at it, I figured I might as well continue the process of changing my interior from that god awful fairy gray to flat black.

    BXT II Raammat:

    Ensolite:

Passenger side door panel... just the vinyl and fabric (used vinyl/fabric dye on it, turned out great. Those wrinkles went away once fully dried):

    photo13_6c81ad5877ca7a47a7244376e4db5bc634b16818.jpg

Other vinyl pieces (used the dye again) - that large piece on bottom is hard plastic... used the plastic paint on it:

    photo7_dbe15692e234a247337052e4e909ad69a906f377.jpg

All the hard plastic pieces, kick panel, etc :

    Rear quarter panel trim:

    Rear seat belt receiver:

    photo-39_4f31262279841f666eda39873dd1ceaf258b1743.jpg

Now comes the fun part... all the pieces that can't be removed:

    photo10_3afd7b524317c0f191f038d62e337b1c55a1aee5.jpg

(the latched wasn't fully dried yet, hence that "smear" - it looks great now):

    photo11_c5ec2bdcb658def7ebfb9ac73d71dc52247bcef0.jpg

Now here's a genius, in a completely retarded kind of way, move... how to paint the seat belt trim panels and seat belt pull handles without getting any on the seat belts themselves:

    photo3-3_ca9d8e0a5c1b15730549fd50d3f31f69dc4d5a84.jpg
    photo4-2_a423cb7c89547fdaf10edb76c54a958726ffb541.jpg

And of course, the toothpick method is key also:

    photo1-1_5367950676c7a0c7c4fe51f63dd338e8580ff39d.jpg

    Lastly... can't forget this guy:

    Now, onto the driver's side...

How durable is the Dupli-color paint on the plastic pieces? I used the SEM brand paint and I'm a little disappointed in its durability. All of the panels looked great when I was finished, but while reassembling the seats and all of their trim pieces, I got scratches in the paint. I used the Dupli-color vinyl dye on the headliner and it seems more durable, but I'm not sure if that's because of the material or the paint.

You know you can remove all of the pieces that you said are not removable, right? I had every piece of plastic out of mine for painting (the headliner was the only exception - I have a '95 with the bow-type, and I couldn't figure out how to remove it). If you need some pointers on how to remove something for the driver's side, just let me know.

Your truck's looking, by-the-way. I was hoping to have the first thread with a "murdered out" interior, but you beat me to it. I've had mine finished for about six weeks now, but I've been traveling and haven't had time to post the pics....

I couldn't find a way to remove that foremost seat belt bracket. Ain't no thang, I just doused a foam brush in primer and spray paint and brushed it on.

I'm using the Rustoleum Ultra primer and paint on the plastic parts. It holds up okay. Nothing is going to really be scratch proof... not even the Krylon fusion. I wouldn't use the vinyl/fabric dye on plastic... the medium is not porous or absorbent so the dye won't really work.

The rear quarter panels should hold up fine as there is no traffic back there... I'll be interested to see how the paint holds up to my 6 year old daughter who seems to have a penchant for scuffing the door panel. Also be interested to see how it holds up on the rocker plate thing as we get in and out of the truck.

Oh, and if yours has been complete for 6 weeks, you beat me to it :) I'm still working on my driver's side now.

While I have my interior all disassembled I figured it would be a good time to clean up the contacts on my master switch assembly. Trying to roll the driver's side window up truly became hit or miss.

    Before:

    After:

Also put back in my passenger side rear quarter panel. Only a tiny bit of touch up is needed around the square trim panel around the rear most seat belt. Sorry for the real shitty and faded picture... it looks great flat black:
