Right now I am at 517.6 kms(321 miles). The light hasn't come on yet but I expect it to be on in the next 50 km's or so. This is all city driving. I am currently running premium 91. I am trying to find out if it's really worth it or not since that I run 87 normally. It was an extra 10 bucks to get the premium. I fill up at 60 liters. I usually get around 470-485 kms when I run 87 and keep it under 2000 rpms. The first station I filled up at I got 483 kms which is normal under 87 conditions. I wasn't expecting it for 91. Went to another station and this is the tank that I am on now. I will write back when I know what my actual mileage is when the light comes up.

I also have fuelly if you wanna check it out as well.

So I got 535 kms at 67L. it came out to 18.8 MPG. It's the best that I have ever gotten for in the city for running 87 or 91. I think for the 10 dollar trade off for every fill isn't that bad. I'm sure that I would have made 20 MPG if I didn't have to do something else before I filled up. I will post if I hit 20 MPG. It's a goal to shoot for that's for sure.

Texas just raised the speed limit to 75 on most highways. A few went to 85. At those kinda speeds my mileage gets down to 17 (dbl cab TRD sport).

At 85 mph, my 12 year-old Chebby 3/4 ton gets better mileage. 6600#, 4 speed auto and a shortblock V-8. The bumper weighs more than the Taco engine. Go figure

2012 Access Cab 4X4, 4.0L V6, 5 speed auto transmission here. Pretty much like the post quoted. If I could travel 100 miles an a level highway with little or no load and have the cruise set at 60 MPH I could get over 22 MPG, but city travel with starts and stops drags it down to 18 MPG average for me. I do have a Bak-Flip bed cover, never checked mpg before I put it on....

I can get 18-20 consistently (no towing). Not bad, my '98 2.7l was barely above that with my driving style, my Lexus GS300 was only about 22-27 mpg with my driving style. My Camry 1.6l was about 30-34 mpg with my driving style.

It adds up in $ over the long term compared to other vehicles, but 18-20 is not too bad for a 4055 lb curbweight 4WD truck with a 200 lb shell on it.

I consistently get 20-21 with my 4wd access cab v6. My last trip to visit fam in maryland I got 24. Love these trucks. My prerunner doublecab v6 did about the same.

This is what I do. ~50 miles each way, eastern Oklahoma with some gentle rolling hills but mostly level, but all highway miles. Check my Fuelly log. I'm getting consistently above 20, and a lot of times above 21mpg. Over my last 60 fuel ups, I've only had two that were under 20mpg.

Just a lil' somethin' to show you auto tranny owners how fortunate you really are!

However I did 3 hours of this two tanks ago and still managed 20.4 mpg. My first under 21 since April. Not really good mileage because of the truck, really it's more in spite of it.

Got 21.1 MPG on my last tank and that's despite being stuck in LA traffic. My daily commute back home takes roughly 1.5 hours for 30 miles (can't be good on gas). It's very easy to get good milage, just gotta be light on the foot and not feel like you're in a rush.

I added quite of bit more miles, and moved to a different place of work, about 50% farther. I avoid the interstate on the way to work since I can only get 18-20 MPG on a good day. I tend to average 22-25 MPG on the Taco and going no faster than 60 MPH. Also spending most of my cruising speed to 45-50 really gets it going. Also one trip going insane speed of 45, I reached a mythical 30 MPG. My new location forced me to do this, and I also wanted to see if I can reach the levels of the HHR I once had. I come close with this truck. I am very happy with it.

For some reason, my Taco sucks compared to a lot of yours. Wonder if it's the Texas Edition BFG Rugged Terrain tires? I think I saw 18mpg on one tank, rest are 17 or less. Even got as low as 13.6mpg when going ~89mph on our new toll road on a windy day.

Sounds like we're similar then. I do have the 4x4 which should take mine a little lower than yours. I like the looks of the tires and they seem to handle fairly well, just not good for gas mileage I guess.

I have BFG rugged trails (or rugged fails) and I get 20-21 mpg consistently. Gotta remember new takes some time for break in.

I get combined 21.8 mpg's on winter gas. Just over 24 mpg's on summer gas in my xrunner. I don't drive very economically though.
