I've been browsing numerous threads here and decided to go with either a Flowmaster 40 or 50. Two questions, first is there a huge difference between the 40 in 50 in either sound, performance, or price? From the website it looks like the 50 series is quieter in the cab, which is what I want, just good to get a few more opinions :)

And secondly, what is the exact model that fits the '09 V6's? I'm at this page here and just want to make sure I get the right one: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/50_delta.html

The 40 series is a lot louder than the 50, but they perform the same. I have the 50 series single in/out. The size is 2.25" and its center in, offset out. hope that helps

Flowmaster mufflers have a great sound, and the 50 serise is a nice mellow tone. Either one you use will cost you a few hp, as they are more restrictive than the OEM muffler.

I have the 50 series. It sounded great by itself. I have the Doug Thorley Headers now, so it's really loud.

Mine is single in/duel out 2.5" piping.

Chris ... so if we're looking for something less restrictive than OEM what should we be aiming for?

Best gains I have seen are with the Dynomax Super Turbo. A muffler that has no baffles will give a gain over stock.

How would that sound compared to the 50?

By the way, do you know of an online store to buy these from or should I just get them direct from Flowmaster?

Flowmastes sound the best, but they take a little power from the engine...Its not a big deal.

Excellent, thanks for the info! Do you think I could find a better deal then paying $112 + $18 S&H direct from Flowmaster?

I have the Flowmaster cat-back with dual exits with 50 muffler. Kit # 17432

It's great! Not too loud and nice sound.

I have the 50 single in, single out as well. Got it done about 2 weeks ago and really like the sound on the outside. The interior noise isn't too loud, but the sound I do hear isn't very appealing. Sounds kind of like a weed eater or something. For those of you with this muffler, is this going to "mellow out" as I've read in some other threads? If so, how long is this mellowing out period?

I've had mine for about 6 months. The interior sound is still ricey.... but it doesn't bother me. The sound you hear from the outside is all that matters.

If it sounded ricey on the outside - I'd take it off!!

Hmm, so what size do I get if I am keeping the factory piping? I hate to get the wrong size, haha

2.5" is what you need. Center In/Offset out or Offset In/Center out works.

Alright, I called up the local custom exhaust shop and they said they can do $130 for the muffler and the install, it's the 50 series 2.50" offset in and center out. I'll be sure to post a video when it's done!
