Looks like I'll be doing another Alcan Highway drive again, except this time it'll be in reverse order.

I'll be putting the truck on the ferry from Kodiak to Homer on the night of the 10th - ferry should arrive in Homer around 10:30 AM on the 11th. Then, it's off to Anchorage where I'll be picking my Dad up from the airport. Oh yeah, forgot to mention - I'm flying my dad out for this trip. I came to the conclusion that it kind of sucks to do this drive alone; for quite a few reasons.

Arrive Anchorage early in the evening of the 11th, then it's party time! Well, I say that now, although, in all honesty it'll most likely be get a hotel room and off to sleep.

Scheduled an appointment at Kendall Toyota the next morning: to have my spiral cable replaced, as well as a safety/fluid check. Yeah, I know - I should just do the safety check myself. The weather's been shitty and my motivation level has been about nil lately.

Assuming that there are no major (fingers crossed) issues on the truck, and that the muffler bearing doesn't need to be replaced...

Planning on heading to either Tok or Whitehorse. Whitehorse will be a long haul. Would really like to do a slight detour and check out the HAARP array off the Tok Cutoff. Trust me. I've got plenty of tin foil to make hats with.

Would like to spend a couple of days in Whitehorse, and perhaps BC. Other than that there really is no time constraint. Just a final destination of Seattle.

Thanks again to everyone who followed my last trip, hope you enjoy following this next venture.

    Stand by,
    jake

I'll definitely be watching this. Can't wait to see lots of pics and hear details of the trip. Your last trip thread was good...looking forward to this one as well!

I'm planning for a late spring trip from either California or Colorado (depends on where I'm at when I start), and making my way up through parts of BC into Alaska. So I'm definitely interested in this!

Ended up spending about 6 hours working on the boat, just finished a couple of hours ago. I guess the Capt. is gonna work me every minute that I'm on the Island...dammit!

Maybe paint that topper on Wednesday...

Ended up getting in a pinch point when we were picking some fishing gear off the boat. Had 6,000 pounds of steel squash me in the chest up against the boat. Not fun.

Yeah for sure. Going to take the truck to Kendall to have it checked over. I'll probably be up for maybe grabbing a beer or something Sunday night. Ferry is actually pretty easy, you can take it all the way to Bellingham. Think it was going to be $1,500 for me to take it down to Bellingham. Only problem was that they are booked solid until January 1st...

Figured I'd throw some shots up here to keep it entertaining for the time being.

I will say, it's going to be weird not seeing eagles down in America. We were cleaning the net last winter and ended up having about 100 eagles dive-bombing the boat, trying to snag small pollock and eulachon.

Well, I'm leaving the island for good - but get in touch with Coby (uscg2008). It'd definitely be a cool place to come check out, and the ferry from Homer is only $179 each way. But, honestly there really aren't too many truck trails out here. There are ATV and side-by-side trails just about everywhere, but most of them are so narrow that you'd thrash the ever-living shit out of a truck trying to get down them.

I'd definitely recommend taking a trip over, though. It's such a beautiful and unique place.

Seattle area. Going to be working on a Bering Sea boat, and spending about 8 months out of the year fishing (2 Mos. on 1 off). Boats based out of Seattle. Plus, it's way cheaper to mod our trucks down South!

That's for sure! Jealous of the drive. I love making that trip. My dad did it all the way to Arkansas in 2 and a half days. He's like a machine.

Would love to make this journey one day..

But will probably not happen for a long time.

I'll watch this one like I did the last. Looks awesome.
