Not trying to start a argument - I worked in the industry for many years and just wanted to share my experiences. I have no "skin in the game" so to speak and each of you can vote with your dollars - don't like them then don't buy them - the car companies will figure it out and stop selling them.

What I can tell you is that they are NOT cheaper than 'solid" wheels. When you add up the extra engineering, equipment and tooling necessary to produce them (none of which are free) they are actually more expensive than traditional chrome wheels. The reason companies use them is that they are much more durable and improve warranty costs and customer satisfaction. I specifically remember many programs where the team wanted them but did not have enough budget. Proof off the cost can be as simple as looking at which companies use them - Mercedes = yes, Audi = yes, Hyundai = No, Kia = No.

I have these chrome clads on my 2013. They look good and I get the "more durable than chrome on metal" argument. Where I have a problem is how the hell can I clean the metal wheel below the chrome clad? If we cannot access the area it is just a matter of time before they start to corrode.
