From me as a Mom: He's watching his little boy grow up and struggling to find common ground. It's hard to do. He will always see you through the mist of the little boy that you were who thought that he could do no wrong. It's hard to find where you fit as a parent when kids start to grow up.

From me as a daughter: I didn't find my Dad until I was 34 years old. I only know him as another adult, never as a father who knew me my whole life. I have no memories of good times or bad, no teenage issues, no threatening of dates, no goofy advice. I wish I did.

I can't say anything bad about either toys or jeeps. I love 'em both. All the jeeps & toyota's I've owned, never had any problems with any of 'em. Never. Regular maintenance & TLC goes a long way to any vehicle.

Not to turn this into a jeep or toy discussion - but if there's one thing I absolutely LOVE about the Jeep is the torque load of the 4.0L in the YJ's. If you're on a very steep hill and have to stop in the middle of it..... You can let the clutch out slowly until you feel it start to pull and let it out completely with virtually no gas. I dunno about the newer tacomas, but my 96 tacoma...you'd start rolling backwards as soon as you started letting the clutch out.
That benefit alone (in the Wrangler) makes wheelin soooo much easier!!

    Hey Wren -
For years, my parents bugged me about having children. I hate that! They finally gave up....

the other thing is with my dad is he was gone all my middle school years for the Navy with Operation Iraqi Freedom, so he missed some of or the three pivotal years of my life, and barely there for one of the summers, so he still even today, less now, talks about how "cute" i was as a child and i think psychologically its been hard, he left for italy and boom i'm 9 months older, 1 month and then boom with some leave i'm 2 years older with 3years in all

then borrow money, tell your dad its for your rig, since you got him into modding his, then hopefully he'll see that you got him into it and will give you some help with finances, you also have to remember there is a copius amount of mods and addons and aftermarket items for jeeps about a bijillon more, the only way to truly to keep up with your dad if he is going mod crazy and not stopping then get a jeep, i wont lie, i love the taco but i still want a jeep, i almost got one (long story)

I've seen your Dads rig on Project JK before, I believe.

We are going to start shopping for a YJ soon. My Mom has wanted a Jeep for about as long as I have been alive. I just convinced her to let me get a YJ and build it for her rather than sell her Sequoia for a JK... Should be a lot of fun and work but Im going to enjoy it.
