I wouldn't mount it like that.

You'll lose use of one of the windows which will be vital in summer as they still get pretty warm. Over the axle is the best place for it.

Lets see 4 bars you say?? Think it's like..56"ish wide? Can't remember..you'll need 15ft at least I'd say. And 10 feet of angle.

Looking at I'd guess 60-90 bucks of steel depending on the area I'd guess.

Find a machining place near you. It will be cheapest from them. Don't buy it from big depos. They charge like 15 bucks for 3 feet.

If you can find what they call drop pieces(pieces that they cut then put back) then it's even cheaper.

 

If it is that low you will be able to see over the top of it. Won't block the rear view totally. The top of the RTT will be in the middle of the rear window. It will be almost impossible to load anything in the front half of the bed though.

Steel isn't that expensive. Plus they sell it I. 20ft sticks. They charge for cutting. So it'll probably cost the same for a 20ft stick.

I dont like the looks of it and it would mean I would have to get a roof rack again after getting rid of the first one (not that that one would have held the weight) haha but that is probably my best option for mounting one and keeping the tool box.

If I mount it that high though I might as well just put it on the roof. My reason for putting it on a bed rack was to keep it as low as possible. I feel like I am already top heavy enough, but I guess an extra 150ish lbs wouldn't hurt too much. hmm...

 

No it makes a huge difference. Trust me. Mostly only on the road tho. Haven't noticed it offroad really

 

Right now im watching the movie the Tall Man, stars Jesscia Biel and was filmed in the small town i work in. I got to help build the set and stuff. Its interesting to see this area through a movie lens

 

I'm not worried about on the road. I'm typically a pretty safe driver, especially in the Taco. It's offroading I'm worried about...
