    If you take the 8 you will pass the mcdonalds on the way. Are you sure it is 10 miles? I thought it was further but I could be wrong.

    poway is about 25 miles away from el cajon where the mcdonalds is and about 45minutes from pine valley

    That is what I thought. I am in Carlsbad and I used to live in East County.

    You could always stay in Pine Valley. There's the Pine Valley Inn. I've never stayed there though so I can't say how good it is but it looks decent. It's only about 1/2-1 mile from where the run starts (not the McDonalds). If you look at the directions on the site, you can see where the road crosses the I-8. The run starts at the dead-end on the other side of the 8.

    It's $5 for a one day pass or $30 for an annual pass. You can get a pass at any ranger station or Big 5 sporting goods. You can also buy them online (we're in the Cleveland National Forest). I imagine we'll be stopping at the ranger station on the way up. If you have the Interagency Annual Pass from the US Forest Service, you don't need an Adventure Pass.
