Tried beating on it with a hammer/maglight tonight. Im gonna have to approach it from a different angle because I couldn't get enough leverage to pop it out.

Looked underneath the truck tonight. Skid plate did get rub a couple times on a few rocks, but nothing dented

Yeah man, the low amount of heat should be enough to make it more flexible, and hopefully "pop" back when you press it by hand. It shouldn't get hot enough to melt it or cause any damage.

They had a video where you can spray it with an upside down can of the compressed air (thereby freezing it with the liquid CO2), then leaving it in the sun or hitting it with some heat. The temp change makes it pop out.

I'm not responsible for results, but I've seen the youtube where it worked

I was gonna suggest that too, but I think that mainly works on metal. Not sure what it would do for plastic.

You need a poster truck in Portland? You build it. I'll rock it.

But I can't afford one right now

    Found these on CL.

Seller claims that they are 8", with zero miles on the gears.

They've got 5.29s in them right now...

One has a Detroit and the other an ARB. Said he doesn't want to separate them right now. Anyone want to buy the Detroit 3rd from him?

I'm pretty sure your truck has a 8.4" third. It won't fit your truck if that's what you're hoping.

Not trying to be a dick, but here is what I've found.

Need someone more knowledgeable to chime in...

"When the Toyota T100 was introduced in 1993, it featured a new rear axle that hadn't been used in Toyota trucks and SUVs before. Over the years, this axle has become known as the Toyota 8.25" and then later on (perhaps with the introduction of the Tundra) it was called the Toyota 8.4", alluding to the respective sizes of their ring gears. The fact of the matter is that 8.25" and 8.4" is a misnomer that has caused much confusion among the Toyota community because the ring gears are not those sizes, but in fact 8.0" just like the earlier Toyota 8.0" axles (however the parts are not interchangeable)."

ARB says the ring gear for 1996-2012 Toyota Tacoma rears is 8.4"...so basically you're both correct.

If it's the RD129, it'll fit any Tacoma

5.29 is pretty high ratio though, don't know too many guys that would need that high, unless they plan on gettin huge ass tires

Yeah, I'd swap out the 5.29s. They are way too big...

Think I may have answered my own question, though. Seller said that they are out of his '89 Pickup.

If that's the case these will not work.

    http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/#v6/turbo

    ^^^ Pretty good write-up.

T100/Tacoma 8" Diff - This diff cannot be fitted to an older style 8" axle because it uses a larger diameter mounting bolt pattern and because more space inside the housing necessary to accommodate the large bearing cap. The different bolt pattern also makes it very impractical to swap in an electric locking Toyota diff (the whole mounting flange would have to be re-done using a special jig).

Seller seemed like a good guy, hopefully he sells them.
