TRD quick shifter question

    hey guys. ima about to buy a trd quick shifter kit. there's two part # kits
    $482 PTR04-35051 TRD Quickshifter
    PTR04-35051 and
    $341 PTR04-35052 TRD Quickshifter
    PTR04-35052. the second one is supposedly for 4wd 4.0L v6 6 speeds, and the 35051 is not very engine/tranny model specific at the sites i'm looking at.

    to clarify, I have an 09 tacoma 2wd 4.0L v6 6-speed sport, so which one do i order? any help or info its greatly appreciated. thanks.

    You get the one for 2wd which is the first one hence the reason for 2 part numbers.

    You'll love the TRD shifter its the shit!!!

    Too few to list.
    URD sells an extension to the stock shifter for about $150 and it does the same job as the TRD one.

    URD version doesn't break. It changes the leverage on the shifter and can wear out the rubber bushing in the stock 2-piece shifter if you really bang on your truck.

    So when the rubber bushing wears out, then you can't shift.....so that shit is broke

    I was just pointing out that the faulty stock stuff is what breaks, not URD's product.

    I didn't like the feel of the stock 2-piece shifter anyway. These days I have the URD kit welded to the end of the stock shifter and have a custom chromoly tube in place of the upper the 2-piece design. Shifts are rock solid and the feel is amazing.

    No problem for me but I suppose I'm used to it. The rubber on the stock shaft wore out from someone else driving my truck and wrestling with the shifter trying to find reverse over a 2-week period. My girlfriend uses 2 hands to get the shifter into reverse.

    But like I said, I don't even notice it. It goes into reverse as easily as any other gear as far as I'm concerned.

    I've decided to turn my truck into a big video game system. Projecting the display on the inside of the windshield, DIRT on Xbox360 feels amazingly realistic! :burnrubber:

    The TRD owns the URD shifter in every way. Two of my friends had the URD and then went TRD and its so much better.

    Probably so... but the price is a little steeper. I've never touched either one, so I really have no say. Just looking at prices.

    I've got the URD shifter. I like it for the $99 I paid in the GB. There was a slight issue with the install though. If you go to the URD section on the forum I wrote about it in there.

    Well the TRD is better because it's the whole complete piece and not an add on like the URD but it just depends on what you can afford. I'd personally just stick with stock since I'm not racing and don't really need a short shifter for $300. I recenlty replaced my tranny fluid with Redline MT90 and the shifts feels a lot smoother and it only cost $35 for three quarts for the tranny and the transfer case.

    thanks for all the input guys. had the chance to try out the trd quick shifter in my frineds 08 tacoma. i love the feel. reminds me of my 06 si with comptech short shifter. crisp, but not too firm and short. i heard about the URD extension and spacer but ima go with the trd kit. thanks again for the help. peace.

    Does anyone have a Video (youtube) or pictures of how much the throw is reduced by with a TRD Short Throw Shifter?

    It'd be nice to see the unit in action, even if the truck is not runnning, just the movement of the shifter into all gears and reverse...

    Im sure this would benefit many it making a decision for purchase.
    Just a thought :)
