You drive a truck, if you want better mileage, then trade it in for this.

Honestly the best mod is the right foot mod.
Watch your rpms keep it under or around 2k.
Also keeping up with normal maintenance, ie fluid changes, clean filters, spark plugs etc.
There is no magic & has been talked about a lot here.

Your 230 miles is roughly equivalent to OP's 450 kilometers ;)

Lets see you are getting 475 miles before hitting the reservoir, you mean when the light comes on? Oh hell I see your in Canada, 475 what KM's? Best way to get better mileage is to not go over 2000 rpm's, go downhill and coast a lot.

Sell the truck. Your not gonna get much better

Some fuel efficient michellen tires are about the only way and that might give you +1mpg

For anyone interested, I am getting just about the same as the OP. And I've worked it out to about 16 MPG. Right on par with what I expect from this truck. The best thing you can do is adjust your technique.

    Roughly 280mi.

I rarely get over 400km to a tank with 10PR tires and mostly short trips, not that those numbers mean anything as the tank isn't empty when I refill. I did a hwy trip this fall where I got about 475 km, worked out to just over 19mpg (little US gallons, that is.)

Sounds about par for the course.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I don't even get that many miles to a tank with my 4 banger, I assume you got a V6? If anything you should be telling us your secret! Most V6 guys on here are lucky to see 300+ out of a tank.

I bet you are gonna feel dumb when you realize the OP is in KM, and that it has been noted multiple times in this thread.....

OP, sign up for fuelly.com and start tracking your fill-ups so you have intelligent data (like L/100km) to compare to the average tacoma fuel efficiency. And keep the rpm's under 2k

    To get the best mileage,
    - no lift
    - stock 245 tires
    - keep rpms at or below 2k
    - keep windows up on the freeway

I can easily get 23 mpg. I think I could get close to 25 if I never went over 60mph on the freeway.

no short trips, don't defrost before you leave by using ur truck, try and get most of the ice and stuff off by scrapping and what not, idle time is gas burned and no mileage gained. coast more, to stop signs and turns, i almost only use my breaks in emergency stops. lighten ur load, no add ons like bug shield, window vents, brush guard, all weight and wind restriction. and maybe fill ur tires with helium? 5 tires at 40 psi of helium would create a good deal of weight reduction ha.
