I can't seem to find it anywhere so im just going to ask.
I have a 2012 4dr Trd and want to put in either a 2 or 2.5" leveling kit.
I plan on keeping stock tire size.

I want to put in this kit. With the 2" AAL

Would I need to change my shocks? or will stock ones be fine?

With a 2" AAL, it'd be a good idea to look into new shocks.

Check out this thread, there is a lot of good suspension info. The kit you're looking at will lift the truck, but there are many other options available (better options, in my opinion).

Also, use the search function. You can usually find a lot of information on a common topic in a hurry as well as different opinions, reviews, etc.

 

Typically with lifts you should change the shocks as well, mainly because the stock ones are not very good anyways. Spacer lifts in the front are not considered the best option either. You can do all that if you want but if you are willing to increase your budget to include coil-over Bilstien 5100's in the front instead of spacers and a pair of 5100's in the back along with that AAL, the ride will be a lot smoother than your original idea plus it will be a more capable off-road set up.

 

If you wheel, change your shocks, if you don't wheel, there is no need to go out and buy longer ones, just be aware if you flex your shock out it will be destroyed.

 

Even if he doesn't wheel, aftermarket ones ride better

 

Awesome, i tried the search and just couldn't find a straight answer, same with that guide.

Im looking into the Bilstien 5100's for the front and rear.
Now would it be ok to put in the front 5100's, and a rear AAL. And not change the rear shocks right away.

My truck has 4 leafs, so i was going to go with a 4+1 setup for AAL.
Would i need the TSB AAL or the 2" AAL.

Im not sure which Leaf id need.

 

4 leaves means you need a TSB set of AAL'a

The TSB doesn't apply to the 2012's but some of them were built with the 4 leaf packs.

As far as the rear shocks, you can wait a little while to change them out but the stock shocks will not do a great job dampening the stiffer leaf pack so the ride might be a little rough and the shocks will wear out fairly quickly as well. Also, if you off road, several hard top outs could blow your stock shocks.

 

New shocks won't matter.....spacer lifts ride like crap! I wouldn't do that to my brand spankin new truck! Get 5100's all around and set the front at 1.75" to level it!
