I think the key is not to heat the chamber up. If your plinking and you're like ah this shits cheap and I'm Rambo then u might get problems.

Never had this happen, not saying you have not, but I have shot 1000's of rounds with no problems. If my gun has problems shooting steel cased ammo, I will not have that gun for long, I will deem that gun unreliable.

A stuck round of Brown Bear almost put my XD out of comission during my CCW qualification course. The instructor had to use the edge of a picnic table as a lever to shuck the round out. Lots of beautiful deep gouges in my carry piece at the time, but I was able to continue and qualify. I agree that the laquer wolf cases are no good unless you're running an AK. The newer gray polymer-coated cases seem to be much more reliable. I run it fine in my ARs.

I agree that if my ar doesn't shoot the cheap stuff I don't want it, I don't have the money to go shoot the expensive stuff for just plinking.
I have seen some stick in other ar's but the chamber was really dirty and once cleaned not a problem.

Went to my local gun show and picked up a 1000 round box of PMC green tip for 300. I find that plenty cheap for plinking and if it minimizes the damage to my weapon 1% totally worth it to me. I have shot Tulammo through it that i got as a christmas present and it had no problems with the 200 rounds i received but saving a few dollars and chancing hurting my weapon in any way isnt worth it to me. but thats just my opinion

This. The lacquered shit will leave lacquer in your chamber if you do back to back to back mag dumps. Easy way to avoid this is by not shooting garbage out of your rifle. I have had three range session interupted by stuck cases because of that lacquered shit. The reason why I know it was the lacquer was because it ran 100% once I swabbed out my chamber with MEK. Five cents per round is not worth making a reliable rifle unreliable. If you aren't having issues you might have a looser chamber than me. Like I said though, shooting brass is the best way to avoid that. If a dollar per box is breaking your bank, find another hobby or build one of these.... ;)

Its not 100% yet but it is VERY close. Just want to add the top rail to give it the monolithic rail look.

Mix of Stag and LWRCI lower parts kit
    Ergo Grip
    LWRCI Trigger Guard
    FN M16 upper
CMMG stainless. .22lr Kit with dedicated collar
Redtazdog Cut and threaded 4.5" CMMG barrel
VTAC JP enterprises modular carbine length handguard
    SilencerCo Sparrow SS
    EOFAKE

Less than $.25 per magdump goodness. So far it has ran 100% through a couple mag dumps in the back yard. Outside of the barrel and the handguard it was 100% built by me.

Ok so I am about to order my AR today just because I am scared of what will happen to the price if Obama is elected for a second term. I have read several articles that are predicting the price to nearly double on a lot of guns, specifically semi autos. I am on Gunbroker.com and have a few in mind and would like some input to help me out. First I am looking at 5.56/.223 so ammo is cheap and easy to come by. Second I would like something that I can learn on and has the ability to be customized later if I choose to. Here is what I am looking at so far, any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

One is a SP6920 and the other is a LE6920, all the research I have done has shown that they are both the same gun, just with different markings. One is sold on their law enforcement site while the other is sold on their manufacturers site. I like this one as it has some magpul accesories on it also.

If there are any others I should look at please let me know, thanks again for any help and/or advice.

James if you can make it to Richmond check out greentop, they just moved in to the Gander mountain right off 95, where 95 and 295 merge. They have decent prices on new rifles and a good selection of used ones.

What I would do with $1200.

I'd buy the PSA Patrol Rifle special that has the Aimpoint Pro on it for a grand then use the other $200 for ammo and supplies (cleaning stuff, targets, etc.)

he said "I would like something that I can learn on and has the ability to be customized later if I choose to"
so why would you recommend a $400 upgrade? he can learn on irons, and if he wants some other optic, he has a million choices between red-dots, scopes, etc.
