    Why?

You get the exact same thing from PSA that you get from BCM.

I own both, there's really not enough difference for your money...

    BCM, tier 1
    PSA, tier 2 or 3 (i don't want FN's sloppy seconds :p)

in all seriousness, in my limited experience with both companies, i have not had good experiences with PSA. I have 2 shooting buddies who had PSA rifles and they had so many problems with them, sent them back multiple times, that they ended up selling them at gun shows at a huge loss just to get rid of them.
    YMMV

There are no tiers. It's either good or crap. Rob's chart really has messed up people's perceptions of ARs. e.g. the current "Melonite vs. Chrome Plating in the bore argument. That wasn't what the chart was intended for.
The only real issues I've seen would have happened no matter what AR the person would have had in hand.

I much rather have a fella on my side with an Oly arms who knows his rifle than a guy with a NovesLaruCMNT who bought it because it was pretty and highly recommended.
This is the way I see this argument....
I highly recommend a BMW for performance driving. Sure, it's a bit finicky when you feed it low grade gas, or put crappy tires on it, but it has the right parts to go fast.
I highly recommend a BCM for peformance shooting, sure, it's a bit finicky when you feed it low grade ammo or put crappy magazines in it, but it has the right parts to go fast...
This Kia over here, well works fine with low grade ammo and magazines, but you don't want that because it's not on the chart....

I guess since I've never had a problem with a PSA rifle that I didn't cause or was due to something mag/ammo related...

...You mention FN seconds.... Where do you think BCM's Hammer Forged barrels come from? ;)

I'd be surprised if the PSA rifles had FN "seconds" barrels on them considering the sheer number of rifles PSA pumps out and the close relationship between the 2 companies

LOL Riiiiiggghhhhhttttt Milspec is milspec. As far as I can see BCM does NOTHING different than PSA or Colt or FN. Sure you can get more options with BCM but the guts of the rifle are pretty much the same as long as its built to spec.

I have a PSA AR and not had any problems out of it. Two of my buddies have different ARs and they liked mine better. Just my .02

There are only 4 in the US I hear...

    Daniel Defense
    Remington
    Ruger
    FN

The word on the street is that BCM uses FN barrels for their Hammer forged line, and Lothar Walther for their button rifled ones.

Steyr is the longest running producer of hammer forged barrels, but their machine is in Austria, etc. etc.

It's not the most cost effective way to make a barrel, and if the proper QC is applied, it's one of those processes that produces more scrap than usable product.

Bench Rest shooters won't touch a hammer forged barrel.

The best barrels out there are cut. Buttoning is nice, but adds complexity to gain volume. Hammer forging is extremely quick, but doesn't yield high volumes.

All can produce an equally accurate product.

Yup, that's me! I'm good at being Captain Obvious, too! :der:
It's definitely one of my favorites, though. Went out shooting the other day and played with the AR for a while. Tore the mess out of some targets and clays. Then we blew up a punkin with one of the shotguns. :D

My PSA has been awesome. Just saying.

If you took all the markings off of my buddys daniel defense and my PSA you wouldn't be able to tell a difference in functionality.

I thought we went through this dick measuring contest the other day? Moral of the story - YMMV based on purpose and use, no matter what you buy.
