I have an 05 TRD sport with v-6 4x4 and the 6 spd but I am leaving Germany next month and going to south Georgia so I won't need the 4x4 with the exrta weight it and worse mpg. I am thinking of trading my truck in for an 08 Pre-runner v-6 with the TRD Sport and auto. What do you guys think?

Stay with what you have, the 4x4 doesn't bring your MPG down as much as you would think. I don't even think the it wears tires as much, a long as you follow a rotation schedule. The main reason is that you are probably upside down, and you will lose 3 years of payments of equity. Until the market settles down, I would be content right now. :D

The truck is paid for, so I would only have to pay about $5k. It's just an idea I'm tossing around right now. I think the auto would be smoother and the truck would probably be a little more nimble.

Wow, since it's paid for, your options are certainly more open. The Auto is very smooth, better in city, or traffic environment. As for being nimble, it's basically the same truck outside of the transmission. The salesmen smell blood in the water when someone wants to "upgrade", the mentality is well he's already got one, so if he wants ours he's going to pay our price. Stay tough, you have the advantage.

Why dont you just trade me for my 06. I would gladly take the 4x4. I regret everyday that I bought a prerunner.

So what is about that you regret ? Not to state the obvious, but is it off road ability, or the lack there of ?

The fact that is not 4wd. I've only gotten stuck once but that was one to many times. 1 or 2 mpg really does not matter all that much so I have no idea why someone would get rid of thier 4wd.

It sucks getting stuck, I have had a 4x4 for as long as I can remember. The climate which I reside allows this to be more prudent. Go for it.
