This is my wishlist from ECGS:

Expensive? Yes. But when it comes to replacing diffs, this is a small price to pay rather than doing it yourself, I know from experience, it can be a tedious PITA!!!

This includes fully assembled front and rear diffs w/ new 4.56 Nitro gears, ARB Lockers front & back, and the ECGS needle bearing "fix" for the driver's side front diff and an ARB Compressor (comparable to OBA abilities) and FREE shipping.

Plus they reimburse $300 when they receive your diff core back (prepaid shipping).

I know! That place is awesome...well, dangerous.

There was a used front up for sale with 4.56/ARB that went for $1100. Made him an offer on his rear, haven't heard back yet.

It sucks because the boat I'll be fishing on just had broadband satellite internet installed, so now I can surf TW/buy Taco parts when I'm in the middle of the Bering Sea.

Definitely going to go the ECGS route when/if I decide to pull the trigger.

Shit man! That's one of the only good things about commercial fishing; out for 2-3 months with nothing to spend money on, then you get back to shore with a bunch of cash, a manly beard, and a sexual appetite rivaled only by Bonobo monkeys. At least you will still have 2 out of 3 :D

    Bwaahahahaha

    You sir, are correct.

It's nice to hear that perspective; rather than the "rape and pillage/ocean destroyers"...

I'm moving down to Seattle; driving down from Anchorage on Monday.
Looking forward to living in a town where there are more than 50 attractive women. To say that the pool in Kodiak is somewhat shallow would be a complete understatement.

So if Alaska ever allows brothels like Nevada, I know where I'm going to be starting a new business. Sounds like a ripe market to tap lol!

I agree with Jake, I grew up in Wasilla...slim pickins and usually not "slim" :p

But, I would love to go back and explore, since it's some of the most beautiful landscapes in the US...need to plan a trip up the Alcan in 1-2 years. We can make a badass movie like our Canadian brethren.

Start planning. 3-4 rigs for 2-3 weeks??? It'll be like the opposite of Moab

Spent the day riding. New plastics were nice, but after some errors while on a jump they aren't so new now lol

I'm driving the highway again - taking the ferry from Kodiak to Homer on Saturday night; then driving down from Anchorage on Monday...

Bobert, you get your elk tag? Got mine today..I won't be able to go opening day due to work nor will I be able to go Monday due to my daughter's doctor appointment. I hope I don't slim my chances with this by going only twice out of the four days.

The gears are the only thing that are the same. The ring size never got any bigger. The carrier and housing did though. That's why I said it won't fit and you need gears for and 8.4" axle. I was only trying to help you save potentially wasted money.

Not yet. I'll stop by Big 5 tomorrow.

So, I'm sitting here at Les Schwab while my tires get mounted. The guy at the counter started off the appointment by telling me they don't typically mount other people's tires. wtf?

They're super weird about stuff like that, they treat it like their Dad's going to yell at them if they put them on. I've spent well over 6k the last couple years at my local one and when I got tires for my old Ford from a friend they were like "uh, um, well, maybe just this time."

... And I appreciate that! Like I said, I'm kind of like a chimp staring at the space shuttle controls when it comes to gears.

Side note - what are you guys running for batteries? Going to do some more research, on the original Toyota battery right now. It's about -15 at night in Tok right now; I installed a block heater last year, now I feel it's prudent to replace the battery.

You can't go wrong with Sears Die Hard Platinum batteries. I run them in all my vehicles and have not had any problems. I used to run Optimas but they always dies within a couple years or stop holding a charge. My friend had the same issue with 3 of his Optimas and now runs the Platinum batteries on his truck and buggy. I highly recommend them. They are pricey but they have a great warranty and are made by Oddesy.

Can't go wrong with a gel battery. I ended up going with Die Hard Gold top. I wanted their new platinum series (which is gel to compete with Optimum) but Auto zone didn't have one my size.
