I was just curious if anyone had this happen to them, I figured it was too good to be true. I really like my truck, I have it set up the way I want it and it runs well, so why the hell would I want to sell it. I figure I still have 250,000 more good miles on it before I need to get rid of it.
Thanks for all who replied. And if someone made out on this deal please post up and share secrets!

The only way you can make out on the deal is going from fully loaded to base model. The dealer isn't going to give you a good trade-in number even if they say they will.

    back to bone stock.

not so sure this is the argument. the dealership just wants the OP to go in..to buy a new vehicle..base model or not. makes no difference.
the dealer is gonna try to sell a lower monthly payment. dealer still makes money, which is the end game.

    correct.

it is all about monthy payment amount. not about terms, values or length of finance contract.

    and it is not fraud.

I agree, more than likely it will be a waste of time, but if you can spare it, it's always fun to look at new trucks

Same thing happen to me but I was in the process of getting a new caranyways so I was prepared for a new ass slit.

The deal was $17 grand trade-in for a 2007 Civic SI Sedan to go towards mywife's 2010 Toyota Highlander V6 limited which was $33 grand out the door. Goodor Bad? Who knows!

It's not all fraudulent. Although the purpose is to just get you in the doors. Once you are there, they will talk you down from the “advertised” price by saying your car is this and that ….But if you get this far, then they have you locked in on another vehicle already.

Yeah - I got an e-mail recently from the dealer I bought my 2010 DCSB TRD Sport from. I bought it new from them and I take the truck to them for all the service (so far its been all free - included in the 2yr/25K mile deal) so they know the condition of the truck and the mileage. In fact, the e-mail estimated the mileage on my truck and it was right on. They were offering a similar deal - trade in my truck for a 2013 DCSB SR5 - no money down and my montly payment was actually about $10 less. I didn't check into it - or read the fine print - my assumption is that I would have a 5-6 year loan to make this deal happen. Not interested anyway - I'm about 19 months from having the truck paid off - and when I make the final payment in July 2014 it will only have about 40K miles on it (I've had the truck for about 26 months and it currently has 22K miles on it - so I only put about 10K a year on it). I'm keeping this truck for a long time. It is in really great shape - so I figure I'll drive this thing for at least 10 years after it is paid for. I'll get sick of it and want something new before then anyway. We'll probably replace the wife's vehicle after this truck is paid off - so I'll easily be able to drive this truck until her next new vehicle is paid off as well. New SR5 with a longer loan - no thanks.

It's just a salesman tactic to get you in the door. I get the same mail offers every 6 mos for my wife's CRV with 150K miles. Do you really think a Honda dealership really wants a '03 CRV on their lot with 150K miles?
