Bilstein 5100 install and alignment cost ?

Hi i just wanted to ask/ maybe start a new thread on how much people are paying to get their bilstein 5100"s installed and aligned here in socal ? thanks

 

as far as install goes, you can set up a meet with manwithoutaplan and see if hes up for it. you provide him with whatever he asks and provide the rest of us lunch to help and alignment, get a lifetime alignment at your favorite shop. (firestone, goodyear, discount tires, etc) runs about $150.

 

WOW that is an expensive alignment. A four wheel alignment should be no more that $80. If it is you are getting ripped off big time. OP if you weren't so far away I'd say bring that rig by the shop dude. If you wanted to make the drive to Yucca Valley you could I guess.

 

After UCA's Firestone was to lazy to do my alignment they said I had to take it to a 4 wheel shop. So if you buy the lifetime be careful because they my not want to work after upgrades. I did not have the lifetime. I had to go to 4 wheel parts and it was $150 for the alignment but they got it right.

It would pay itself off in 2 alignments.
But to answer the OP there's plenty of people willing/know how to install 5100's that will do it way cheaper than a shop.

 

Give the Ledezma tire & muffler shop a call. I bet they'll do your alignment for around $60.
They did mine about a week ago for cheaper but that's because I always take my truck to them.
They're located on Main Street down in Chula Vista.

 

Yeah, and pay them every 6 months when your toe is out from general driving, much less offroading or pay much more by not doing alignments and burning up expensive AT or Offroad tires. Just pay for a multi-year or lifetimetime alignment, get it aligned every 6 months or so and be way ahead on money thrown away.

 

Yea a lifetime alignment is a gimick. If OP changes one thing on the truck after the first one they will not honor that agreement. I was a tech once and the service writer will tell the customer to get bent in a nice way on something like that. Plus if there is any suspicion of off roading or abuse there is another reason they will not warranty the alignment.

 

Correct, also once they have your money they dont like to do the alignments any more. You come in with a lifetime alignment they will tell you they are booked for the day or not even do the alignment and tell you they did. When you ask for the print up they will say the printer is not working.

 

i got my billies installed (all 4) and suspension aligned for $230

thanks so much guys. im looking at setting the billies at 1.75 and getting an alignment. im trying to fit some 275/70/17 on 4.75 Backspace, and -6mm Offsetwheels. do you guys think i can hold an alignment at the 1.75 setting?

get uca's its the caster that they wont be able to get back. Stock is about 2.5 degrees. Lifting will make it around .8-1 degree. this makes for a very wandering truck. with the bigger tires you are going to want it more positive also. i would say yours should be around 2.9-3.1. Stock spec is 1.8-3.6 or somewhere around there. if you want a tougher wheel to turn then get more + caster. Makes for a straighter driving truck. the reason for more with a bigger tire is that it will want to pull the front end more.

 

Fronts for $100, rears for $50. Takes 2 hours.

You don't need a 4 wheel alignment, these trucks have solid rear axles. Front end alignment should cost you no more than $60.

Good luck getting a shop to honor a lifetime alignment on an off-road truck.

 

If you pay attention and ask, you can find one that is transferable such as the 3 yr one from NTB AND if you wash the truck off and don't show up with mud all over it then there is no issue about offroading or not. Paying attention to details is the biggest way to rip yourself off no matter what realm. With a 3 yr alignment getting one every 6 months for 140.00 equal 6 4 wheel alignments in the course of 3 yrs = about 24.00 each. Yeah that's gimmicky right? Attention pays.

There are other ways to see that a truck has been off road. Just because its clean doesn't mean the scratches and possible dents on skids are going to "wash" off. Maybe you have a crazy good soap or something. I understand what you are saying. A lifetime alignment is all fine with a street car.

But anyway before this is way off topic I think the OP got some good info. Just take care of your vehicle however you go about it.

 

What you read on a website or personally gather based on speculation is completely different from what actually happens.

What may or may not happen in TX is also completely different from what happens in Southern CA.

Then again, if you're foolish enough to pay for six 4-wheel alignments on a truck with a solid rear axle...

 

Well, my car isn't solid axle & neither is the SUV. either way, 140.00 for at least 6 2wheel alignments is still less than half of 60 that was posted above in the thread on the same solid axle truck. I'm talkin from personal experience in my locale just like everyone else is and sure thing there are differences but we're talkin alignments not smog and tint laws that vary much more. And no shit, common sense should clue anyone that a bashed up offroad vehicle is gonna be denied and get hassles. Congrats on that stunning realization. bob on.....

Who said anything about a bashed up off-road vehicle? Any vehicle that keeps coming back for that many free alignments within a year is going to raise a few eyebrows at 99% of the shops in Southern California.
