Builder just emailed me, "oh sorry we misquoted you, instead of $7000 it will be $11000 for this option". This is 2 fucking days before I tell them to go dig a hole. Now i am wanting to tell them to fucking pound sand.

 

I think it would be much more entertaining if you told them to go eat the sand instead.

 

What is the option in question ?

 

Pfft a quote is a quote. If it's in a contract for 7k, the builder can take the extra 4k and squeeze it up his butthole.

 

They will just cut a corner somewhere else

 

True, but they're probably already cutting corners, and you can only cut so much before all your corners are rounded

 

We pushed a wall out 2 ft and it is a 20' long wall. They quoted me ~7k for the additional 80 sq ft. But in reality there is another 40 sq ft in the basement that was added but not accounted for. there it should be 120 sq ft and ~11k instead.

no, not finished

 

In that case , my response to them would be that the added cost for the basement sq footage seems unjustified as it is not finished space as it is above and the foundation would need to be altered to carry the bump out you requested , and that surely that would have been factored into the original price .

 

Tell them to split the difference....
