This. You will be shocked at how loyal a rescue dog is compared to a dog from a breeder or store. They know you rescued them. Wouldn't do it any other way.

I'm deff going to rescue. I've gone an seen a few dogs around here, but none of them have sparked that "feeling" with me yet. I figure its something I don't wanna rush into.

There might also be a specific Hound rescue near you. My friend got a great dog from Lab Rescue and I know someone with a dog from Boxer Rescue. There are at least three German Shepherd specific rescues here, too. The benefit is that they know the breed traits, they might have the dogs in a foster home (vs a kennel) too and thus can know more about the dog's personality and training.

Here is another one of my adopted pit bull, Booker. He's around 7-8 years old. He always is so tolerant of my bullshit.

    aruvaqu8_f0dd6b9fc2073daae2ca9ba7292f8613167e9989.jpg

He comes out to brunch pretty often. My boyfriend feeds him bits off his plate so now Booker tends to keep an eye on things.

You'll find one that gives that spark. It took about 20 dogs for me I to find the right one but when I found her, I knew right away. Good luck in your search.

Yes she is a black lab/German short haired pointer mixed...her, her mom, and 2 brothers were found in a box under a bridge...all had been adopted when we got there except her...people came in right after us to see her..but it was to late :)

We lost our "old man" after fifteen years a few months ago. Best damn dog... I think I took his loss harder than any person in my life that I've lost...

    _MG_9560-Edit-Edit_35d480879371a913374ec09ddb25af41022b7907.jpg

But we rescued this little dude on Tuesday. He was, literally, hours from being euthanized at the pound before Best Friends/Utah Humane Society got involved.

We think he's about six months old, and are guessing he's a "Border Sheltie".
