No, I get it, that is what I mean. Nobody actually knows how they voted, because on election night, they said screw it, we're done for the night and went to bed while the rest of the nation participated. So, essentially, the election was called without any up-to-date information that included their electoral contribution, which became mathematcailly irrelevant after a certain point later that night.

The state that brought you hanging chads more than a decade ago still can't get its shit together on the cornerstone issue and right of our country. Pathetic. They should be set adrift and carried off by the next hurricane.

Their primary language would be well suited. Maybe not the right dialect, but they'll figure it out. Or maybe not.

I don't really care , just puzzled how something that seems so simple seems to elude Florida for the last few elections

Yeah, two elections out of a couple hundred, that defines us. Brilliant.

    .
Well Pete, turns out after the Famous 'Hanging Chads' of 2000, the outlawed punchcards and went to touchscreen paperless, then they fucked that up and lost a bunch of shit so they threw that out and went to a reader system like a Scantron, which takes longer to read and tabulate. Combine that with a higher than normal turnout in some precincts as well as the longest damn ballot that anyone has ever seen in Florida's history plus a shortage of readers you had people waiting for up to seven hours to vote. the last voters in FL got to vote about five minutes after Romney gave his "I am a loser" speech.
I say we see if maybe Spain will buy Florida back.

Does that cover it for ya Pete?

2 out of 44, presidentially speaking. We don't care about your other elections.

Have you read the other comments(re:Florida) in this thread? Broad generalizations, falsehoods and racial innuendo. Everything said without research, without a factual base, is absorbed by someone else even less inclined to take the time to check facts BEFORE posting the usual nonsensical stereotypes, which only distances the truth from the forefront.

As a 16+year resident of Florida, I tire of this type of garbage being thrown out for mass consumption- as I stated, 2 elections (out of hundreds) with issues- both of which have NOTHING to do with the "people" that are voting but are procedural and/or glitch-based problems.

The hanging chad was obviously a paper ballot issue- and don't even try to spin that into Florida residents being unable to choose the correct name/hole to punch, as Tuesdays election also had headlines where a computerized system reverted Romney votes to Obama votes automatically in another state. That election was the impetus for a change to a different system, which worked flawlessly in 2008 & 2010 in Florida.

And as someone who had to wait a very, very long time to vote, and wasn't sure why until I got in the booth and realized the ballot was a mini-novel - each ballot initiative was a freaking paragraph- not one or two lines but a PARAGRAPH- now I read pretty quickly for my advanced age of 49 but it still took me about 30 minutes to vote. Multiply that by the USUAL high voter turnout and expect long delays in results. Florida law also requires ballot count rechecks randomly by separated committees, all of which takes time. Florida population = 19 million approximately.(About half of Canada in one state, right?).

As for not caring about our "other elections"- an informed person might realize that we use the same voting system for all elections, at least since the hanging chad issue, and that the fact that there haven't been any issues is a factual base upon which to formulate theory, commentary and/or hypothesis. Unfortunately, by only using the statistical database of 2 elections, you get skewed/flawed data, which if proposed as fact would only make you look really, really misinformed.

    Carry on.
