bent rod, leaky exhaust manifold, defective oil pump, bad gas, bad bearings, horrible piston slap, who the fuck knows.... these engines have plenty of things that can and will go wrong.

Not very happy with my purchase of a Toyota so far and I sure as hell wish I had bought the 10 year 100,000 warranty. Didn't think I needed one with a Toyota, but it turns out this truck is the biggest POS I have ever owned. I put 10 times the amount of money into the Toyota to maintain it then I ever did my Ford and I had that 6 years longer and put 110,000 more miles on it. I can't wait to see what else this truck needs if I plan on having it for another 6 years and 100,00 miles..........

So far I would take a Ford over a Toyota any day. I had Fords for the first 15 years of my driving life with little to no issues. This Toyota is littered with issues. And just to be clear I raced my Mustang just about every weekend and my Explorer was beaten in the woods as well...just not as much as the Taco

Yea, they were salting here when it was raining and 40* the other day.... stupid is as stupid does I guess

Just shows you what being proactive gets you. Time to slack off on the maintenance Boyd, it will work itself out that way. ;)

    Just did last week:

    new plugs
    new air filter
    throttle body/intake cleaning
    new oil & filter
    fixed exhaust leak
lubed up drive train, UCA's, tie rods, LCA BJ's
    new in cabin filter

and some other shit I'm sure I'm forgetting... at least I only owe $4,000 on it so at this point it's just a $4,000 paper weight

this is just my observation from being on this site~

IF IT IS A TRD IT WILL HAVE MORE PROBLEMS THEN THE NON TRD. My 06 trd had every tsb in the book my sr5 not that many and has been a good truck so far. Just look at the peeps with more issuses more likely than not its a trd.

I feel like that is a very broad assumption. I feel like most people on this site are looking for a TRD. The non-TRD's are probably not as into their trucks, and never join the forum. Also many people buy TRD's for the reason to beat on them, hence TRD's are possibly beaten harder than non-TRD's. Too many variables.

I have had both! spend a bit more time on the site and you will see. I didnt even beat my trd like the sr5.look at the rears in the trd they fucking explode all the time with the lockers. So its not really an assumtion its an observation! There are plenty of people on here that dont wheel the trd and have had issues.

    Nope...there is already an Oswego.

Anyone want to buy a meticulously maintained 08' TRD Sport Tacoma with 89k on it? Plenty of new parts on it. Never beaten or submerged. Don't mind the BANG BANG BANG the engine makes....that's just typical Jap engine lifter noise

    I agree...

^^^ This. My step dad has a 06 Pre runner and just runs the shit out of it and changes the oil every now and then. He has just over 150000 he bought it with 30000. He does a lot of driving all over the country for his job. He was just complaining he had to replace the wheel bearings and spark plug. I don't think I have ever seen him was it either.

anyone ever know anyone that has/had a Whippet for a pet dog?

the house I'm buying comes with everything.. fully furnished, including a dog if I want it. :)

the granddaughter of the family I'm buying it from lost her apartment in the hurricane and can't find a new apartment that allows dogs so she thinks she wants to get rid of it and tried to pawn it off to me. I watched the animal planet "pets 101" on them and they seem really cool

I just texted my coworker. I'm pretty sure her dog is a mix of Whippet and Lab. Great dog. Will let you know when I find out.
