33x12.5x15 or 33x10.5x15 opinions????

    I have a 3" suspension on my 2001, just picked up 20inch HPD's on 275/55/20's. Ordered 295/55/20 Nitto Trail Grapplers last night, I have the front and rear spaced 1.25", you guys hear of any rubbing on the upper control arm? I have checked with a few other people but I'm just second guessing myself a little here lol.

    I'm interested in this topic too. I am planning on new wheels and tires this summer, and was planning on the 33x12.5r15's but I think my mind may have been changed... I won't have to spend the extra money on new UCA's and I'll get better gas mileage - good for a semi-daily driver. I was kinda curious though, somebody said they had 12.5's on an 8 inch wide tire... does that mean I can get a 15x8 rim and fit, say 33x12.5r15's on them? Obviously the 10.5's would fit on an 8 inch wide rim... Right? Thanks for the help

    You can run a 12.5 on a 8 inch wide rim. Depending the kind of tire you choose it may have a (minimum rim size) mine says 8.5 inch rim but i run an 8 anyways doesnt seem to affect my tread wear pattern lol. You wont need new UCA's to run a wider tire just an offset rims 4" or greater.
    Go to the website of whatever tire your looking at and take a look at the recomended rim sizes your average 33 will look like this.

    33x12.50R-15
    Outlined Black Letters
    Load Range = C
    Rim Range = 8.0-10.0
    Max Load = 2205
    Tread Depth = 19/32
    Overall Diameter = 32.60

    Edit: Yes you will also have no problem running a 10.50 on an 8 inch. A wider rim does make you tire appear larger due to more buldge in the sidewall but doesnt really affect performance.

    Incidentally, I have a 3" lift. Can I clear 3.75 backspacing? Most rims I'm looking at have 3.75 bs.

    3.75'' BS is better then 4''. It'll keep the tire off the frame more at full lock, however it'll put it into you frame more at full lock.

    Not bad tho.

    a 3.75'' BS rim is the best way to go, and a 10'' rim..but 8'' wide are fine. What i have.

    I'm with Rucas on this one, I have the same rims as him which are like an 8 offset or something, all I needed to do was the pound out the pinch seam and it no longer rubs. Plus, the bushings on my struts are completely shot so lose about .5" of height.

    Haha! Not that long ago. Picked up some D windowed steelies that cleared my calipers. Did not have to crank up the COs, just pound on the pinch weld. :D

    Did some wheeling on my 33x10.50 KM2's for the first time last week. They contacted one of my front fender flares cracking it and ripping it out of two mounting points. I'm not running a sway bar and tires are on 4" back space wheelers 15x8's. Also the rears rub the inside of the flares but did not damage anything. I may get trim packers up front but I'm already just about maxed out. Not sure what I'm going to do. Might just deal with the rubbing.
