i pretty much exclusively shop at Palmetto State Armory...but that's because I can walk into their storefront and I have a long standing relationship/friendship with several of the employees

i've heard tales that their shipping takes awhile

Still looking at a bunch of different AR's for the first, havent dropped the money on them yet. There is a gun show coming to VA Nov 24-25...do you typically find better deals at these places than you do at a local gun shop? There are only a few in the VA Beach area to really pick from as is.

Any thoughts on Windam Weaponry? I know they are pretty much a Bushmaster, everything I read online seemed ok.

You can also venture outside of VA Beach too. There is Bobs in Norfolk, and a few places in Gloucester that sell ARs as well. Also Green Top in Richmond is well worth the drive! I paid like 1200 for my Daniel Defense and love it! You have to come up with a dollar amount you are willing to spend before soliciting for advice

I am trying to stay under or around 1000$ for my first one. I have been to Bob's and almost walked out the door with one but wanted to get home and look up info about it.

I brought mine off of armslist.com. Haven't had a single issue with it and got a hell of a deal on it.

A standard carbine with drop-in handguards and a carry handle isn't worth $850 to me - maybe it is to you. The rail looks like a UTG, which makes it less than worthless to me because of their reputation for crap accessories. I'd have to replace it immediately, which costs $$.
