What a great thread! Seriously! :) I want to hear moar about chains and straps, duck tape and bailing wire. It's usually almost always dry where I live and I hardly ever see snow or ice. For me, when it's 65 degrees it's considered cold and we reach for our hats and jackets.

I don't like being in avoidable dangerous situations. Too many close calls. I don't offroad or even bother recovering people that aren't on the same page.

Do it legit and safely or suffer the consequences.

Actually, this has been my policy for many years. If I think I can help, I explain how the process will go, and what I want them to do. If I get one word of back talk, I get back in the truck and leave.

There is an exeption though. If it is someone who is unaware, but is willing to learn the correct way of doing it, I will still help. If it's some hard head who refuses to accept my methods, they can figure their own shit out.

if i am towing someone out of a jam, i will give them the end of the rope i carry. If they hook it on themselves and it tears something up they can't point a finger at me.
