I hear ya! Got the distance calibrated today. My truck was pretty close to being accurate. I think I wound up with a 1.003 correction factor. Went and filled up after that, initiated the tank fill, reset the avg mpg, and will now play the waiting game to get to the multi fill up calibration, keeping track of all the gallons used.

I finally got my Famous Fabrication rock sliders on the truck today!

I will post better pictures later, but iPhone pictures are all I have for now - the sun was going down and the lighting was bad anyways.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to coat them with at first. I was going to use black spray paint, but then decided that I wanted something that was going to last a bit longer. I have a while yet before these sliders will see regular use, and I didn't want to have to repaint them every year. My next thought was Herculiner, but after reading about it on here and other sites, it seemed like it would only last for a few years before it would fade/discolor and begin to chip off.

I finally settled on having them line-x'd. After looking at them and handling them during the install, I can say that the coating is really tough. We used a hydraulic jack to press the sliders into place (thickness of line-x exceeded tolerance for fitment ). I was worried at first that the jack would tear apart the line-x (especially with the pressure, we lifted the truck off the ground) but it only dented a little, then over time returned to the original position. Pretty impressive. Anyways, here are some pictures after the install. More to follow about the install with better pictures.

P.S. Why are the last two pictures rotated? I can't figure out how to rotate them back. I uploaded them right side up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can set the calibration on each tank, but it's a bit tedious.

What I do, since I use Fuelly, is I erase all of my old "sent" text messages to fuelly on the same fill-up that I zero my calibration.

First fill up, UG says 15.4, I'll adjust it to 16, or 14, or whatever.
Second fill up, UG says 30, I'll adjust it to 31, or 29, or whatever.
Third fill up, UG says 45, I'll adjust it to 46, or 44, or whatever.

At that point, it'll be pretty close, so I'll ignore the calibration setting, but continue to store my sent Fuelly texts. After I have 10 or so, I'll add them all up, then add to that my next fill-up and do a final adjustment.

And that works fine until there is a change in fuel formulation
Seriously... look at my Fuelly link for the last week on vacation.
For the Arizona and New Mexico purchased leg, my actual was 1mpg below the UG's report.
For the two tanks purchased in Texas, it was pretty close. For the tank purchased in Carlsbad, actual was 1mpg above the UG (happy surprise), and for the tank purchased in Winslow, it was pretty close... just a tad better than UG predicted.

I know! That is next on the list, but it will be expensive, so I'm waiting until I have the money. I want to put on an OME lift with the Dakar leaf packs, Total Chaos UCA's, and bump up to 32" A/T's; and possibly get some new wheels while I'm at it too. Like I said, it will be expensive once I start

Same set up I have, but I am running LR UCAs. I plan on A/T's as well (285/75/16). Rims are sitting in the garage waiting for some rubber.
With your pay you should already be there

Tires installed, notice a nice sweet hum when hitting the highway.

My only concern is the clearance. Height wise the tire clears everything fine. It's on the inside I worry about. I had thought they were the same size in width, and did not look to see what kind of clearance I had before, but now, checking have less than 1/2" between tire and front end gear. Sure could never put chains on the front tires. I will have to run by a dealer and check again what the stock clearance is.

Will take a picture of my truck today and post.

Sure love the look of the tires though, they make me want to get off road.

    :)

I replaced my factory original headlights with a pair of Sylvania XtraVision's. My passenger headlight blew last Wednesday and I was starting to get nervous since I see so many cops on my daily drive. I hope they last long enough to justify the $20ish I spent on them.

For anyone that is interested, I took some quality picture today and wrote a more comprehensive review of my Famous Fabrication sliders, as well as the effects of having them Line-X'd during instillation.

You can read about it in this thread.
