    Not so.

I was a mechanic at a golf course for 10 years. At least once a summer some dipshit would put gas in a diesel mower and take it out mowing. He would come walking in about 10-15 mins later and say his mower stopped working. So I would go out and look at it. Check fuel gauge, turn over engine, check for air in injectors, check fuel filter. Then like always after I waste about 2-3 hours the retards would say that they MIGHT have put gas in it. So I would Drain the tank put in new fuel filters and she would fire right up and was fine. Never had this damage an engine.

On a side note one idiot told me after running an expensive ($19,000) machine for several hours that he put diesel fuel in the hydraulic system. Some how after a drain and flush the hydrostatic system was ok.

What's all the fuss about? For christ sake, drain the gas tank and flush out the diesel that has already gone through the pump, into the fuel system.

FWIW, in Oregon you can't pump your own gas and some retard filled about 8 gallons in a 25 gallon tank with diesel in my gasoline flatbed truck.

He siphoned out about 3 gallons and we diluted the rest with gasoline. Kinda ran like crap until it all got flushed out but it ran.

Exactly^^^ what i said. No need to do any extra flushing nonsense. Darin some out and refill with gas, it will eventually run it through the system.

Hydraulic system... Diesel is also not compressible, and has lubricating qualities. Other than being a very effective solvent, there is no reason that it would not work as a hydraulic fluid other than the combustion risk.

On the mowers... there's a big difference between a small Diesel utility engine with a mechanical injection system, and a modern Diesel truck engine with 26,000psi injector pressure.
Gasoline will destroy a modern Injection Pump.

Just disconnect your fuel line as close to the engine as you can. Stick it in a hose to drain it into whatever container you can find. Be carefull check and make sure you don't have any massive leaks then check again after you start your fuel pump. Have a friend watch the line when you turn the key on to start the pump to drain the tank. Turn your key on but don't crank engine over and the pump will pump the fuel out. Run the pump for a few minutes then turn it off for a few. After it gets more or less all the fuel out refill with clean gas and it will crank eventually. Put a charger on the battery turn over for 1 minute let the starter cool off then try again. If you want to change your fuel filter change it after the first tank of gas is run through it.'

Fuel pump only runs for a few seconds with the key on. Not minutes at a time.

    Negative Ghostrider.

OP has a 2005. The fuel filter is integral to the pump assembly in the tank.
Changing the filter entails dropping the tank and removing the pump.

pictures didn't show up for some reason. unless you have a lift and about four hours i wouldn't attempt this on your own. i don't know your mechanical ability but i used to work for toyota and i will tell you this isn't too hard just time consuming. definitely not a first job type of thing if you havent done much else though. might just have to bite the bullet on this one you can try to energize the fuel pump relay with the fuel line disconnected and drain it that way.

seen this before, take the rubber fuel line out, hard wire the fuel pump wire with resistor, and let that fucker pump till its dry. then put some fresh gas in and run the truck with starting fluid for a minute. done.
