Helping my brother deliver a Vespa 200 GT about 120 miles from home to new owner. I have a 2012 short bed taco. Besides putting down the tailgate, any issues I should be concern? I am planning the to use tie downs (on tracks) that come with the taco and D-ring.

I have transport bikes before but on a larger truck with the tailgate close.

Btw, what is up with owning a truck. A few days, ago, I had to help a coworker pickup 3 closet sliding doors. Last month, friend's wife needed a sofa pickup ).

I don't have a short bed but I haul small motorcycles a lot. I've never had an issue with it moving as long as it's strapped correctly. A Vespa might be hard to find a good anchor point on the back since it has all that plastic. I collapse the front fork with the straps so it will sit tight against the front of the bed and not bounce. Go with the D-rings in each corner.

    Bumper sticker.

Use the D-rings in the bed. Get a spare set for the front. The tracks really aren't that strong. It will work, but still... not that strong.

Leave it on the center stand when you tie it down to the d rings. Worked well for me.

I like driving my truck, so I'm always down to help someone move something as long as they kick down fuel and food.

Like others have said, use the D-rings in the bed. The rail anchors will hold 200lbs static load each (IIRC). That's STATIC load only. Any movement or side shifting will increase the stress on the anchors.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Vespas are small, scooter like bikes aren't they? With my old dirtbike, I just cocked it in sideways and was able to close the gate, long bed though. Personally, they look cooler sittin in there sideways I think.

Bad idea, you want it riding on the suspension to absorb bumps, on the center stand and it could possibly damage either the scoot or the bed.

the racks are strong enough. everyone says they aren't, but in my 07 i used to tie multiple bikes down at a time, plenty tight. they flex a bit, but i never had issues and don't have issues with em on my new truck.

and yes, you are anyone who needs anything moved best friend if you own a truck

No stand. Only on suspensions. I sat on the scooter while my brother tied it down.

Turned out well. Half of the rear wheel was on the tailgate. I was concern at first. We used the D rings on the floor, and two rings on the side in the front. Also used the locking straps on the track for backup purposes.

    That vespa was over 300lbs.
