    I enjoy my S&w alot... DD make great rifles and greentop had one for 1400. They have a pretty good selection of many others as well

    Thats odd that it needed to be grounded on both ends. What antennae are you running? With my set up Im running an SWR of 1 on channel 1 and it get higher with the higher bands but even at ch 40 its a 1.4 SWR. I didn't bother to check the wattage as the Cobra I'm running now isnt adjustable that I know of.

    It's a 5ft Firestik, with tuneable tip.... Yeah, I was trying all kinds of combinations of running an extra ground wire from the body of the truck to different parts of the antenna base and mount that I made... In the end, I stripped a piece of wire, splayed it out, screwed the coax on at the antenna and put the wire in between the threads. SWR dropped to 2:1... My jaw dropped, cuz I had been tinkering with it for several hours at that point with no change, then for shits and giggles I added another ground in the same place behind the radio, it dropped almost another .5.... I don't understand RF enough to make sense of it, was hoping someone else did
