    by some lady driving South in the North bound lane of the Dallas North Toll road Sunday morning around midnight.

    This is crazy.. how do you drive down the wrong side of a damn Highway... a Toll road of all places.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    A 16-year-old driver was killed in Frisco early Sunday morning when a driver headed the wrong way on the Dallas North Tollway crashed into her vehicle, state police said.
    Kara Taylor of Little Elm died in the crash and her 15-year-old friend was injured, said Trooper Lonny Haschel of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The friend’s injuries were minor, he said.
    A 24-year-old Dallas woman, Mariza Martinez, was headed south on the northbound lanes when she crashed into Kara’s vehicle. Martinez was transferred to Medical Center of Plano. Haschel said the extent of her injuries was unknown. The crash was reported at 12:28 a.m., he said.
    “What a horrible way to begin Mother’s Day,” Haschel said Sunday afternoon.
    No charges had been filed against Martinez as of early Sunday evening, but they could be later, depending on the results of the police investigation, Haschel said. Officers planned to map the scene of the accident to determine exactly what happened, and they will review results of toxicology tests.
    “Then we’ll decide about what charges to bring,” Haschel said.
    A spokeswoman for the North Texas Tollway Authority said some lanes of the tollway were closed until about 4 a.m. because of the accident.
    Haschel said he was unable to disclose any information about Kara, but already Sunday afternoon friends of the Little Elm teenager were changing their status messages on the MySpace and Facebook online social sites to express their grief.
    I'd have to know a few more details before condemning this girl. Whether she ends up in jail or not, she will be haunted by this for the rest of her life.
    If she was drunk, on drugs, or on the cell phone, then she belongs in jail for a long time.
    I've seen a bunch of people driving down the wrong way in New Orleans on city streets, but I've also heard of a person driving down an overpass on the wrong side. Sometimes shit like that happens and you're so panicked that you can't think straight.
    When people get drunk, most end up giddy and disinhibited. Some get angry, and a smaller portion get passively or actively suicidal. When those suicidal drunks get behind the wheel, they drive the wrong way on the highway. It's a weird thing to do, but a shocking number of people do it.
    I'm a prosecutor and I just dealt with one such case. Luckily the jackass drove into the median before he could hit someone. Guess what? He was on parole for doing the same thing back in 2004. Now he's serving a 15 year prison sentence.
