Thought I'd share.... Mounted my Springfield XD in my center console using Blackhawk holster. Fits perfect, it's secure, and very easy access. Let me know what ya think! dyhy4ede_4b0c61502f39554cb153a27b4f19b47cebf27baa.jpg

Nice. Thinking of doing the same thing once I have the license.

In Texas you don't have to have license. You are allowed by state to have it "concealed" inside your car. Glove box, under seat, etc. are all legal places. Just be sure to inform police if pulled over that you have it.

You are not required to inform them of it, probably good idea though.

don't think you need a license to do this in CO either...

"Colorado allows a person to carry a firearm in a vehicle, loaded or unloaded, if its use is for lawful protection of such person or another's person or property. [C.R.S. 18-12-105(2)] Colorado law also allows a person to possess a handgun in a dwelling, place of business, or automobile. However, you cannot carry the weapon concealed on or about your person while transporting it into your home, business, hotel room, etc. Local jurisdictions may not enact laws that restrict a person's ability to travel with a weapon. [C.R.S. 18-12-105.6] The Act permits the nationwide carrying of concealed handguns by qualified current and retired law enforcement officers and amends the Gun Control Act of 1968 (Pub. L. 90-618, 82 Stat. 1213) to exempt qualified current and retired law enforcement officers from state and local laws prohibiting the carry of concealed firearms."

Interesting. I wonder though if putting it in the center console would be considered concealing it?

Which Blackwak holster did you use? Serpa CQC, Sporter Serpa, etc...

What mount did you use as well?

    Thanks

sounds like the concealed restrictions apply to concealing on your "person"

carrying a weapon, loaded or unloaded within your vehicle looks to be fine. while carrying it around you can open carry it or have it in a carrying case.

"Can I carry concealed in my vehicle without a permit (even in Denver)? YES See C.R.S. 18-12-204"
"(3) (a) A person who may lawfully possess a handgun may carry a handgun under the following circumstances without obtaining a permit and the handgun shall not be considered concealed:

    (I) The handgun is in the possession of a person who is in a private automobile or in some other private means of conveyance and who carries the handgun for a legal use, including self-defense; or

(II) The handgun is in the possession of a person who is legally engaged in hunting activities within the state.

    (b) The provisions of this subsection (3) shall not be construed to authorize the carrying of a handgun in violation of the provisions of section 18-12-105 or 18-12-105.5."

the other quotes i had was from the Colorado state patrol http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/StatePatrol-Main/CBON/1251594549010

"33-6-125. Possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle. It is unlawful to possess any firearm, other than a pistol or revolver, in or on any motor vehicle unless the chamber of
such firearm is unloaded. For the purposes of this section, a "muzzle-loader" shall be considered unloaded if it is not primed, and, for such purpose, "primed" means having a percussion cap on the nipple or flint in the striker and powder in the flash pan."

I really like that install location, but have the console vault. Anyone find another place to mount the pistol? I've seen a strap holster that goes underneath the steering column, may go with that one.

Will it not fit with the console vault? I thought about getting one of those.

Using a SERPA CQC w/ SERPA Quick disconnect kit. Can get them online, gun show or local gun shop. Used strong double sided tape to avoid any drilling.

Nice! I may have to do this. I carry on my hip (inside pants holster) and don't know if I would like to switch between the two very often when out and about, but I have an hour commute to work each way, so would be nice to have some place to keep it secure for the drive. Good post!
