Alright, apple nerd! My issue is that I got the new iOS update and prior to the 6.0 and 6.1 update my iPhone synced via Bluetooth to my pioneer AVH 4400BH every time I turned the truck on and I could see all the data on the screen, hit next and back and it would work. NOW! It completely doesn't sync automatically, I have to automatically sync it every time and I can no linger control the next and back button or see any of the music details displayed on the deck.

So can someone tell me how to fix this without reverting back to the pre 6.0 updates? I've tried resetting the phone, forgetting devices on the phone and e deck but nothing works...help?

Can your HU be updated with a USB software download? I would check Pioneer's website and see if there's a firmware update for your HU. This sounds more of an issue with how Pioneers software is reacting to the update to iOS.

The logic would run that whatever build the HU was running was programmed with pre-6.0 in mind. Now that the phone is different, it's not handling it "correctly." Unfortunately, I don't see Pioneer pushing an update out very quickly (assuming they do at all).

I have a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT and it has never properly synced BT audio with my various iPhones over the years. And if I do set it up with BT audio it kills the consistency for the BT phone connection. :frusty:
I would think Pioneer just sucks at this stuff but the stock Pioneer deck in the FRS works perfectly fine syncing both audio and phone every time.

Just saw this thread. I will try to keep it as succinct as possible. This is a question about iTunes and backing up my iPhone after moving my library from one place to another.

I now have two Macbook Pro 15s. I will name them MB1 and MB2.

For years I had MB1 and my iTunes media folder on an external hard drive. This is where I backed up my iPhone for a couple of years.

I just bought MB2 and had two 1TB hard drives installed in it. So I tried transferring my iTunes library (itl, content et al) over to one of the internal drives of MB2 using that utility assistant (sorry the name is escaping me right now). However when I did the transfer none of my media files could be located (they all had the ! symbol next to it). So I figured if I clicked on one of the files, clicked "locate" and navigated to the file on MB2's internal hard drive, they would all be found.

That did not happen. Not to mention I had massive amounts of duplicate files, etc.

So I contacted the Apple Certified Consultant who installed the two 1TB drives on my computer... he's a data (recover) specialist as well. He said if I don't mind losing all my playlists, simply erase the iTunes folder on MB2, then simply drag the media folder from the external hard drive and drop it on the iTunes icon of MB2.

After several hours, all my content from the iTunes media folder was properly loaded into MB2's iTunes library. I did lose my playlists, etc... but that's no big deal.

Now, here's my question. I want to continue to back up my iPhone to iTunes. Obviously I want to use the new iTunes library that now resides on MB2. When I look in the media folder on MB2 I can see all my apps and iPhone data. If I hook my iPhone up to MB2, will it be a smooth back up process like normal or do I risk losing/erasing all my apps and data on my iPhone?

My hesitance derives from the fact that if you hook up an iPod to a new library it always gives you the "this iPod is not associated with this library, do you wish to reformat and connect it to this library?" (or whatever that actual message is). I am worried that if I connect my iPhone up to a new library I will lose all the apps, etc.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks.

Ugh, let me try this again, hopefully TW doesn't crash this time.

Your initial issue stems from the paths not being the same. Different drive names, user name, etc. The cleanest way to do it is the copy and re-import into iTunes as you have now done. Your playlists are not lost though! You can export them on the old machine and import them on the new one. It should be easy and pick up everything in the new library.

With the iPhone it will likely, as you expect, say it's a new device and want to re-sync. However it should not require a reformat, it will simply want to wipe out music/apps/videos/etc. and re-sync from the new machine. As long as you have everything copied over this won't be an issue it will just take a little time. There is no risk of losing your apps either, they are tied to your iTunes store account so worst case you can download them again for free if you already paid for it.

    Alright guru's........

We made the plunge into the world of iRidiculous! We just purchased two Iphone 5's and are attempting to consolidate our Apple products into one efficient household platform. This is probably easy to answer but I just don't have the time to go search 4,000 web pages. ;)

We have in total 2 iphone 5's, 2 ipod shuffle's, and an Ipod Touch 4. Last year I consolidated both her's (the wife) and my libraries into one under my Apple Id account. (We haven't used icloud for anything yet so no account there yet).

My question is this. I know we can have 5 components off one Apple Itunes account.

    1. Can we run both phones, ipod shuffles, and Ipod Touch off a single Itunes account while having separate iCloud accounts for each phone? In other words can we hook up and sync to our itunes music library with both phones under one Apple Id/account?

    2. If we plan to expand to things like Apple Tv, and airplay, etc., will we be able to do that or are those things going to be unusable due to the (5) component restriction on one Apple account/library?

    1. You can have multiple devices using the same account. iCloud and your apps/iTunes purchases are linked with the same iTunes account so having different iCloud accounts would prevent you from syncing the same apps already purchased (you would have to buy again for additional devices). You could still sync music and such that isn't tied to an iTunes account.

    2. Apple TV uses either airplay or iTunes home sharing which doesn't count towards device allotment.

Forgive me if this question is off limits. Delete the post if necessary.

I have several hundred movies on my computer, mostly in mkv or avi format. Some in mp4.

I want to run an AppleTv, or similar technology, that can play the movies off my computer and onto my 32" flat screen.

Now I know with AppleTv it can play any movie imported into iTunes. Here's my dilemma: I don't want to 1) convert all my videos to mp4 or 2) import them into iTunes.

Currently I use VLC player to play all my movies. Is there any way AppleTV can play these movies via VLC on my monitor? Eg, a jailbroken AppleTV 2?

Or, if anyone can direct me towards the technology that can. Ideally I'd love to be able to stream my iTunes library through my stereo/TV system as well.

    Thanks in advance.

If you have the first iteration of the Apple TV 2 you can jailbrake it and run Plex to stream any video type. Alternatively you can just get a Roku or similar which will play those formats fine. Unfortunately the Apple TV is the only thing that will play iTunes purchased videos if you have those.

I don't have any iTunes purchased videos.

In my iTunes library all I have is music I've painstakingly imported for the past 10 years or so.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance, I know nothing of Apple TV, Plex, jailbreaking etc...

If I get an Apple TV 2 (first iteration), jailbreak it, I can somehow obtain Plex, an app I assume?, and then I can stream the videos off my computer and onto my 32" monitor?

How does it work? I have a folder on my computer called "movies." Do I just navigate using the Apple TV remote to that folder and play the movie? Is it that easy?

One more question... would I be able to use the "remote" app on my iPhone to control the Apple TV and play movies, play music from iTunes, etc...?

    Thank you.

EDIT: Another question. I do a lot of streaming from the internet (not youtube, netflix or the likes...) would I be able to stream that content onto my 32" monitor using a jailbroken Apple TV 2?
