Well, can't find anywhere that will patch a pinhole on the sidewall, going to order a new one tomorrow when I get home. Does anyone want a very very new 17" terra grappler? Could use it as a planter for flowers, garage ornament, tire swing, or whatever. Free of charge!

 

got to be a small gas station that will do it for cash, then use it as a spare.

 

That's what I was gonna say, use it as a spare... Most shops won't take responsibility for repairing a sidewall though.

Just a thought, once it's off the rim, patch it yourself, then try to find someone that will put it on a junk rim for you as a spare.

 

Only problem i have with using it as a spare tire is that if you dont trust it for normal use would u want that to be your last resort when u are in the middle of nowhere, on a trail or your significant other has it by herself

True... I was just thinking if it's truly just a pinhole, it would probably be just as reliable as what a donut is rated for, even though you see freaks doing 80mph down the interstate with them. But it is taking a chance, nonetheless.

 

I would use it as and keep a fresh tire as the spare.... plugged the upper corner sidewall of my duratracs, didnt have a problem but had a fullsize spare w/o plugs

 

could put it on a cheap steelie and put some slime ( or fix a flat) in it for a spare.

I hate that crap, but for a spare on a cheap steel wheel. I wouldnt be afraid of it ( dont put a TPMS sensor in it)

Lot's of good points here. I think I will mount it on a steelie and bring it out with me when I go wheeling, only as a last resort. I imagine in the spot it is located it shouldn't give too much trouble anyways as long as I don't air down on it or get a significant amount of sidewall flex. Still going to purchase another new one regardless though, I think $138 is worth the peace of mind knowing that I will be safe and not stranded somewhere with a bottle jack trying to make the best of a bad situation. Thank y'all for the input on this!
