Looking to part out some items off my truck. This is a
Steel tailgate re-enforced plate that makes your tailgate no longer dent if you load bikes and things into it. I got it off a group buy on here. It's painted black an uses all the existing holes the normal tailgate covers do.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/136618-how-im-fixing-my-flexy-tailgate.html This is the link to the write up on the piece of steel i'm using and the guy who first did it.

Asking $125 plus your tailgate pieces so I can put mine back to stock. Should be a 10 minute swap.

EZ Down Tailgate from Redline (same company as hoodstrut folks) available for additional $40!!! It's $55 new plus shipping. It'll make it slow down the last few inches in case someone just drops your tailgate open all the time!

No shipping on this obviously. I'm located in Pacific Beach in San Diego, can meet somewhere locally.

    Thanks

BUMP, there has to be someone in the SD area who loads dirt bikes and motorcycles regularly, this helps a TON with not denting your tailgate.

I have the Redline Tailgate EZ Down set up on mine too that keeps it from slamming down too which I can include for an additional $40. It's $55 new.

BUMP! I would totaly be all over this if I wasn't from Central PA. Did you get the plastic piece to fit ontop of the steel plate? Nicely done!

Yep took some careful trimming on the outer edge lip but it fits perfectly, i also bought the correct screws for it (unfortunately from a Toyota dealer so it cost an unreasonably large amount) but it got that plate sitting on there perfectly flat and looks stock. No one even notices the difference until they lower it and realize how much sturdier it is.

    Thanks for the bump!

I have the same tailgate reinforcement. Got it line-x'd and love the end result. No more worries about heavy loads on the gate.

If you still have this, I may pick it up when I get back from vacation next week. The best part is you live down the street. Cant get any more local than that.

Sounds good to me! Local is the best and it's the quickest swap ever with just a torx bit and a power drill.

Haha i lived in Southern MD for the last 3 years and i feel you on there being no good deals anywhere nearby! Hopefully somebody soon comes up with something for ya.

where are you thinking is good halfway to meet? i don't really want to spend $30 in gas just to sell it but i guess it's a possibility. you can PM location and time that are good for you if you want. i'm around this weekend i expect.

BUMP still available and I'm starting my part out of the truck. Ill make a new thread with everything but this one is good for now. It's a super useful mod and greatly improves the ruggedness of your truck!
