Bigger tires means you are going faster than your speedometer says. I have to get mine calibrated too.

Thanks for the info. I called a couple of places to include the local toyota dealer. I've been told they can't re-calibrate the speedometer.

 

Dealership can't fix anything...they suck...that is all

as far as i know, the only way to recalibrate the speedo on the 2nd gen trucks is with the Dakota Digital Speedometer Calibration box that has to be wired in

 

Eff the speedo cal... use the tire size calc and know ur speed. Another benefit is less mileage w/o calibrating. My speedo reads about 7% slow and the odo is almost exactly 10% off

 

I think its illegal. Im no boyscout but try to stay on the right side of the law for the most part.

Plus, your odo doesnt accurately display your millage which can get you in trouble when/if you sell, unless you calibrate first. Either way its a little shady

 

Hey StAndrew, i used to work at chesapeake auto center. I was also in charge of the calibrations. I'm pretty sure the price is still $45. If you go there ask for Adam (manager) or Seb (owner). I have done the dakota install on alot of lifted trucks in chesapeake and it works very well. Just takes time to locate the correct wires to tap into.

 

Speedos being wrong isnt illegal... gotten out out of tickets by bringing in a auto sheet sayin it was off by x%

The odo hasnt been tampered with

 

Mine is exactly 5 mph off at 55...at 0-35 there's hardly no difference...

 

Hahaha, I guess. I want my ODO to be correct so I can calc gas milage though and I like to know how fast Im going . I dont think $45 is all that bad...

Anyone want to do a mod day this Saturday? I think John has volunteered (again).... I think like %75 of all meets are at Burry's or John's...

because im cheap and didnt buy the windshield mount and i dont need to look at it constantly so its easy to see if i need to but out of the way as well
