Lol cock-smokers, thats a good one! And damn right, people that think there are supposed "bad breeds" are full of shit up to their ears. My friend has a pit/heeler mix, one of the nicest dogs I know, but she is real protective, which isn't bad at all.

So my wife came home today said she knows what she wants for her b-day and xmas. One of her coworkers is giving away a free 1 year old black Great Dane, female and already potty trained. I want it as well because we'll never have the opportunity to get a dog like this for free. However, we have a yellow lab that is 7, a cat that is 6, and another cat who just turned 1. All three get along great. I have no kids and in a rental home for now that is about 1750 sq ft with a small-medium back yard. I already looked into the added cost for food and what not. Need help deciding! I do want her though, just not sure if she'll be too much along with our other pets.

Fun little critters and they do a good job of clearing the vermin off of the farm.

You could get her for a trial period to see how they all get along. It could be that she doesn't like the others.

That's what we're thinking of doing Thanksgiving weekend. The dog is with a temp family. My wife's coworker has a friend who works at a shelter and brought her home until she can find a home for her and she already has 2 dogs and the dane gets along with them great. ...I have a feeling we're getting her next weekend and keeping her, lol. Her name is Jewels but I think we may try to change it to Batgirl. We're both superhero/comic nerds.

I love how dogs have BFF's! They can meet 100's of different dogs, but then they have a special connection with only a few. My lab is like that, doesnt care much for dogs in the dog park. BUt she met my Mom's lab mix and all of a sudden I didnt even exist. It was sad when we had to leave. My Mom's dog just laid in front of my truck all morning, he knew we were leaving. My wife wants to steal him.

Go for it!! I have 5 now (lost one this morning (11/13/12) and I can't think of anything greater than my mob getting along with each other. Especially if they are young and can break in with the others knowing the do's and don't-s.

I think when we get her for the trial run we won't give her back, lol. Just a little worried about how the cats will act during her "break-in" period. We'll see though! I've always wanted a huge Doberman but I'll settle for a Great Dane. Especially since she's free!

Thanks "Impulse." He was 17 and I rescued him from a cotton field when he was a puppy.

Here she is. We went and saw her earlier tonight and going back to pick her up on Sunday. She's barely 6 months old, 45 lbs. Original owners returned her because she had some kind of skin problem and didn't want to deal with it. The pet shop gave her the medicine and it was cleared up in a month. We were told that once everything was said and done as far as the owners buying her and registering her, they paid almost $4k! She's registered and it is illegal to re-sell animals in Las Vegas so we're getting her for free! Her name is Jewel but since she doesn't really respond to names yet we may change it to Raven.

Look at a good dog food for her skin allergies as well. That may be all you need. I use Blue but not for skin. But they are a number of dog foods out there which are perfectly suited for her. Congrats and thanks for rescueing a creature that was truly heaven sent....
