Hey guys I need help installing an inverter into an sr5, I would make a how to thread after because I can't find anything on them besides more people asking. To start off I could only find harborfreights locally having an inverter. 1) How would I wire this to my truck? Is it possible to use the factory wiring for the oem inverter(if i even have the wiring)

2)I wanted to hide the inverter and have 2 plug ins behind the center console and an outlet with a wire(like an extention cord with 2 outlets) how would I wire this to the inverter?

3)With this I will be adding a fuse block, circuit break, and eventually I wanted to run a dual battery system and I want an on and off switch, how would I make this possible?

4)My main purpose for this is basically for lighting for photography. I would run two of the lights in the link, and other than that the only use they would get would be from charging of a phone.

    1) 750 watt is too big to run off factory wiring. Run appropriate gauge wiring for an inverter this size.

    2) there are "how to's" on this forum to get plugs in the cab from factory inverter (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-inverter-400w-anytime-mod-8.html#post5069338)

    3) lots of "how to's" on this also. For the 750watt inverter plan on at least a 60-80amp fuse/breaker

    4) those are 1000watts - 750 will not be enough.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
1)I still want to put it in that area to hide it.

2)I don't have a factory inverter, but thank you

4)Its up to 1000 watts, they come with 500 watts, but if i run 2 is that 1000?

New Mexico Taco- So does this mean I have to directly connect it to my battery? Could I just cut the wires, and extend from inside the cab?

Sorry about all this, I have no knowledge of wiring other than what I read off here.

No, you'll have to increase the wire size to at least a #2awg

Wow thanks for the help, I'm going to read more about that donerow inverter but the generator is alot out of my price range.

Todo what? Connect direct to the battery?

Yes, that's the proper way to insatll it otherwise you risk a vehicle fire.

You would need to wire the switch to a relay rated for the invertor size otherwise you'll melt the switch.

You're talking about some serious power draw from the battery for a 2000 watt inverter. A 1000 watt inverter will draw as near as makes no difference 80 amps. 2000 watts draws twice that amount. Your entire house may have 150 amps of service, and that is some seriously thick cable going in there (different voltage, so way more power available in a house, but we're talking current, not power).

If I were you, I would mount the inverter under the hood somewhere and keep the cable from the battery as short and thick as possible going to the inverter. If you want in-cab outlets, run an extension cord from the inverter in to the cab though the firewall (make sure it is well protected from sharp edges, use metal shielded cable or heavy duty grommets).

You will probably be able to rig up an easy on-off system through the 12volt system. I'm fairly sure most high output inverters like that have switching circuits built in already.

Bear in mind that the generator route may not be all that much more expensive if you do things right with the inverter.
