I have been doing nonstop restoration work on 90 year's worth of other people's sins in preparation for badly needed paint. Painters are done except for minor stuff today. Been dodging weather for weeks. I'm downloading pics now.

Nothing like prepping a house for paint to find every stinking thing wrong with the exterior.

I came home and found one of the shelf's in my closet had fallen down due to my wife putting about 400 pounds on a wire shelf!!! Guess what I get to fix tomorrow after I work 12 hours then stop by home depot on the way home!!!

 

Oh yeah. Lots of long molding rips, did great. Adjustments and blade changes are very quick and easy.
In the last couple months, I've used every freaking non-truck tool I own.

 

Picked up a

$500 Dewalt D55167 DEWALT Compressor, Oil Free, High Pressure, Low Noise, Horizontal, Portable, 15-Gallon, 1.6 HP, 225 PSI (D55167)

Dewalt D55167 Compressor last week (15 gallon, 1.6 hp, 200 psi). We took the rest of the wallpaper down in the master bedroom (I had already peeled the face paper off so it was just the paper backing on the wall). It was plain drywall underneath so I used the compressor to put on an orange peel texture. It worked wonderfully. I think the pump only came on three times for the whole job and filled in about a minute. I had a 2 gallon compressor from Lowes which was very slow going because it ran out so fast and took a long time to refill (2 gal, .3 hp & 120psi).



I'll have some pictures up later.

I also textured and painted the stairwell leading up to the master the week before. The stairwell is about 15 feet high at it's highest point. I did that using the old compressor.

 

We have a very old house that has a concrete path that goes around the perimeter of it and doesn't drain well at all. So I was wondering if anybody had any advice on coring through concrete? Should we hire someone or is it something we can do ourselves?

 

You need some french drains.

 

Coring concrete isn't that hard , I've done it a half dozen times with a coring rig from the local rental place

 

Man I remember using one for the first time 20 years ago or so. Did a wall. After setting anchors and 2 of us mounting it,fired it up and slowly started coring.Until we hit some rebar,that was messy,and loud. Ended up using chipping hammer

 

Just cut through it

 

I know that now. We learned the hard way,bearing down on the feed handle standing on a ladder. Hit that rebar and I went for a ride. Didn't feel like doing it again.
