I vaguely remember somewhere reading on here that there are speedo calibration products out there. I may be able to find it but im on my phone right now and tapatalk search feature leaves a lot to be desired. If i find it ill post it up

Its called a hypertech. Thats the one i was thinking of. Do a search for speedo calibration and i believe the first result had the link to the hypertech product.

Hey is there a backspacing that would give these a more aggressive stance on the truck? I would need LESS than the 4.5" right? Or is it more?

Doing that ( moving them out ) will lead to rubbing issues

Not with homer's fender flares.....I'm holding out hope that those see production at some point.

Mine are on 16"x7" 1st Gen TRDs with 4.5"and have no problems. So it's like having 0.75" wheel spacers.
These work & look great on stock wheels. 16"x8" with 4.5" BS might be a different story. As for BS the lower the number the farther they will stick out.

I would be more worried about function then form.

All the cool guys use 285's cause they stick out so far.

    this

I'm at 5-1/4" and rubbing the frame.

How much room do you have between the fender and tire? I would imagine your right at the edge of hitting cause I'm close.

I'm guessing 4-1/2 - 5-1/4 BS is the sweet spot for 7" wide wheels and these tires.

and I would stay away from 8" wide wheels. from all the people I know and have talked to the 7" wheel is PERFECT for this size tire and airing down to very minimal pressures without popping a bead.

Totally get what you're saying, but with the extra clearance fender flares, I shouldn't have any rubbing, along with a CMC to prevent it. As far as form over function, you're totally right, but there's nothing wrong with trying to find a happy medium between the two. And a wider stance does have its advantages S well.

I'm glad to know about the 7 inch wheel though. Wasn't aware of that. I like the 1st gen wheels.

^^ the 285s in my opinion look better and make your tires look bigger but the 255s are more functional for my needs so that's what I chose

Alright I think I'm losing you guys, I'm going with 255's because they function better, but I'm curious if running less back spacing will make them LOOK better as well.

They still look bad ass. But if they stick further out the wheel well it would make them look better

I think so. Mine are 0.75" farther out than stock due to 1st Gen TRD wheels (4.5" BS).
    But like Skip said.

I am looking for a set of 1st gen wheels in 7x16 so that in a year or so I can get the 255/85R16 tires. Hopefully I come across a set of 4 (or 5!) for a nice price.

I got mine (4) off a local 4x4 forum for $100. You could also keep an eye on craislist. Good luck!

So I here everybody saying on here u should not run 8'' wheels with 255/85/16.... But i have heard of some people doing it just fine, so does anybody on here run 8'' ?

Reason is I just got my kings on,cab mount chop, uppers, and spindle gussets.... There lies the problem as my stock rims hit the spindle gussets so I need something with 4.5 bs instead of stock at 5.5 bs and only think I am finding out there is 16x8 wheels.... Anybody have any input ? And no I am not running wheel spacers !

My ATX Mojaves are 17x8 with 4.5 bs and 255/80/17 km2s. Lots of guys run 16s with 4.5bs seems to be a well liked combo on here.
