Do you want me to sugarcoat it or right between the eyes?

It was tough as hell! But I passed it, I think I missed only 3 or 4 questions on the test. The test is timed, you are given an hour. I finished in 35 minutes, there were a few in my class that finished in 15 minutes.

Everyone in my IT group passed it, even the few I thought didn't have a chance in hell of passing. It was 3 8hour days & the test was on the last day after lunch. Roughly 300 pages in 2 & 1/2 days. What worked well for me was to use a highlighter and mark important facts on each page you go over. Also add the plastic tabs to important pages for easy reference. Then after class I would take the important facts & put them on note cards & make flash cards. This helped me memorize all the important content.

We were told if you take the class & do not pass, you get credit for taking it. And another opportunity for a retake. If you pass, you get a certificate. It is work taking. The main purpose of everyone in an IT department taking ITIL, is so that they will speak the same terminology when it comes to IT related processes. Everyone in IT here at Emory University has taken ITIL to my knowledge. Upper level management made it mandatory a few years ago.

haha, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a new machine with Vista, considering they stopped retailing it over 2 years ago, and stopped shipping machines with it preinstalled over a year ago.

Some of the low cost places selling pc's(overstock, ebay, etc) may have unused inventory in the market place with Vista.

I was posting that comment as informational for the guy looking for a cheap laptop. With the thought process of, if he buys a very cheap laptop, make sure it has win 7 or 8 on it. Some companies sell refurbished laptops or ones that sat in the warehouse & didn't sell when Vista was around. Heck you can even buy pc's with XP on them even today.

Is it a bad sign when my computer apologizes to me and says its given up?

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Hey guys i'm looking for a position in the IT assistant department to start my career, still working on bachelors. Does anyone know of a site that is good for this sort of work. I've tried Dice.com but the jobs there require bachelors and several years of exp. I'm located in the lower los angeles area. I can do my own homework and find sites but was wondering if you guys knew of any good ones.

It's :goingcrazy: around here this morning. Java zero day exploit came out and we have to patch, which you would think would be simple. Note, this is not my company, just one that I am contracted trough. You would think the sky is falling. We've had 7 meetings since last night to figure out a plan of action. :goingcrazy:

If Windows, why don't you use update policies and just roll that patch out?

What do you mean by IT assistant?

There are low-level jobs like a help desk or entry-level technician. You usually work up the ranks from there, unless you complete school/certifications for a specific specialty (security, networking, database admin, etc...)

Also, if you have knowledge and experience go ahead and apply for the jobs that say they require a bachelors. It's good practice if you have never done an IT interview before and if you have the skills then the education requirements are usually flexible. This isn't a field like medicine where education is required to get a decent job.

I completed tech school as a formality after leaving UCR without my degree, just so I could have some accredited education under my belt. A position I applied for was supposed to have a bachelors and 10 years experience. I got the job with no bachelors or associates and 3 years experience.

because of shit ass apps that break when java updates. They don't have it documented which ones break so that is what we are trying to do now.
