Thank you for this! I am very aware of automotive lighting gimmick's ... But this site really hammers in the TRUE facts and all the bullshit surrounding HID retrofits (which I never intended on doing) and the blue light coatings which are complete bull.

I hope everyone gets a chance to read at least some of this website

That's where I got mine. Hopefully they don't shit out quick on nevada dirt roads. I could probably change em out in 10 mins though.

My silverstar ultra's are over 3 years old. I don't drive a ton of hours in the dark so I can't say they lasted a long time but to me they have.

My Narva 50's lasted about a year +/-. I can't remember exactly how long, but both blew out within a month of each other. Maybe Ill check my build and see when I installed them. I could be way off and it could of been longer. Time to place another order for some more. I am happy with them. The night after I took the comparison pics I decided to keep the different bulbs in for a camping meet with about 10 other TW members. Everyone agreed that the Narva was much brighter then the Silverstar Ultra.

Narva is nice enough not to hide behind BS statements and supply the actual lumen output of their bulbs so if you can get the info out of the other bulb manufactures you can actually compare output correctly instead of listening to the typical marketing bs saying "80% brighter or %50 brighter".

Thank you guys for all of the helpful info. I think I'm going to order the Philips Xtreme Powers, but do they have the same bulb that fits our fog lights? I want to order them together.

No they do not. I wanted to color match but ended up with the nokya yellow bulbs and am happy with them.

On my 1st. set of Silver Star Ultras, a bulb went out within 9 months. I got a set of replacements for free from the company. They were really cool about it (I had receipt & within 1 year warranty).

In the meantime, I popped in my OEM bulb temporarily until I received the replacement SS Ultras. What I noticed was the passenger side SS Ultra was no brighter than the OEM bulb & it was slightly dimmer. Not only do SS Ultras have a short lifespan, but brightness level quickly diminishes as well.

On my 2nd. set of SS Ultras, the driver side bulb went out within 9-10 months. I will not buy another set of these bulbs and would not recommend them. They are brighter for a little while, but not cost effective & more importantly, unreliable.

There is never a good time for a bulb to go out. Always happens at early morning or at night. Not a quick fix when you're off to work with no time to spare. Then you have the added risk of getting pulled over by a cop.

IMHO, these "whiter & brighter" halogens are all about the same, regardless of brand. Either get some quality HID's with the correct housing or just live with OEM bulbs.

lights with a film/tint over them will reduce the output vs the same light with no tint/film.

If you want bright lights on a budget stay away from the black magics and just get the 700's. They are cheaper and brighter when comparing them with the same bulbs in them.

They are on sale right now and I have a blackout look on my truck. It's all white with black accessories. The light output I'm not so worried about. They will stay caged except on the weekends at hunting camp or four wheelin
