OP, this is great! However, I think you should provide the exact collapsed and extended length of the shocks these were designed around so people dont experience premature bottoming out or over extension. Shocks within the same brand are drastically different when it comes down to different bodies, mounts, and rod end lengths. Just my .02

I have an idea and you guys can tell me if its stupid.

Can you make a set of upper brackets that will keep the shocks in their current location? make the bracket to move the mount up 2" to try to fit a set of 10" shocks.

maybe at worst we'll have to take a hole-saw to the bed on the one side. using an eyelet bushing on top should also help our cause.

the reason for this is, i don't want to get bigger bumpstops and reduce up-travel, also this will keep the bottom shock mounts at the lower mounting point.

    You shouldn't need to bump
early if you weld the shock mounts in the right location. I always forget his name (stfyu?) But his are welded on a little high. Also in some of the pictures he has negative arch, but that was due to the shackle flip, not the shocks.

I hear ya, I think the main reason being is I cannot weld to cast, so I'd rather keep my stock lower mounting points on the shock.

The truck can't really have any downtime other than the weekend, so I can't take it anywhere.

edit: after looking at the pics on the first page, are the axle tubes steel or cast?

The problem is your bottom mounts are not on the same side; one is in front and one is on the back of the axle housing. With the Relocation kit it puts both shocks in front of the axle. I still get negative arc if I flex the truck hard. My bumps need to be moved down a bit but I have them out right now getting the travel shortened from 4" to 2".

They are steel. Easily welded too. ;)

Why are you changing the bumps from 4" to 2"? If you removed the shackle flip and you still get negative arc, that should have nothing to do with the shock kit right?

It's doesn't. I get negative arc because my air bumps allowed too much up travel. I have to shorten them because I can only mount them so far up without cutting into the bed. At 4" of travel the bump stop was only 3" above the strike plate. Every other bump it would hit.
