    Haha, technically they still work how you have them, but I'm 99% positive they were designed to flip forward towards your target. My thinking behind that statement is that any oncoming (barrel end towards shoulder) interference would simply fold the sight down as opposed to snapping it off and/or snagging and affecting your control of the rifle.
