That's what our snow is like too...we don't get that nice fluffy snow that Alberta and other places get.

Stupid heavy shit. Good leg workout!

ok just a bit of math for ya guys. i just want to double check my numbers to make sure this will work. so I want to get a dual optima battery box so i can have both my batterys next to each other. their size for each battery is 10.018" Long, 6.886" Wide, 7.841" Tall............and my battery is 9.340" Long, 6.700" Wide, 7.685" Tall....so my battery is a bit smaller...my question is will it fit properly enough you think? here is the boxhttp://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/OPT-WID.html they say their box fits the optima 34/78....mine is a 35 version.

Slow down turbo. The Optima 34/78 is wider, taller, and longer than the Optima 35, and the poles are on opposite sides. More importantly the 34/78 has offset top plate which is what the ruff stuff (or any batter box) uses to keep the battery from moving around. I wouldn't use that battery box for a 35.

The real question is....why are you doing a dual battery setup? I don't remember seeing a fridge or a winch in your truck.

hahahaa. im slowing down dont worry. im just seeing if it would match up, cause the guys at ruffstuff said it would but i dont think it will. thats why i had to double check with you guys. well considering i have 2 subs, amp, deck, so many lights to power, air compressor, etc. winch is coming eventually.

I have all that except the winch in my tundra...and I would have no reservations about running a winch too with this bad motherfucker. Diehard Platinum 31M deep cycle. 1150 COLD cranking amps. No muss, no fuss, fits the factory location, no custom brackets....easy peasy.

You're talking the wrong language Skippy.
Lights don't run off battery unless your truck is turned off. Your alternator is what does the work. Adding more batteries won't help if your alternator can't keep up with the load.

    Or 1 good battery.
I went for path of least resistance. I got just the biggest damn DieHard deep cycle I could (which is actually a rebranded Odyssey battery). I can keep my stereo blasting for 3 hours in Pismo and it starts right up every time.

Don't get me wrong, two batteries have a very distinct advantage....if one dies, you have a spare! But at the cost of more money and complexity. You "can" just run both batteries in parallel, but that defeats the purpose of having a second battery. You should wire in an isolator (again, more $$$). Typically a second battery is necessitated by:
    1) High current draw load (winch)
    2) Having something that discharges over time (12 volt fridge, lights left on for extended periods of time, etc.)
    3) Piece of mind! (50 miles from the closest paved road and your battery just shit the bed).

If you decide to go the dual battery route, don't even fuck around with trying to make your 35 work. Buy two new batteries of the same brand so they are both the same age
